🧹 Role Overview

We are looking for friendly, responsible volunteers to help keep our backpackers hostel clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The role combines housekeeping duties with light gardening and outdoor maintenance, ideal for volunteers who enjoy hands-on work and being part of a relaxed, international hostel environment.

What you offer

27 hours of help per week

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.

Reception: Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

What you get

2 days off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Restaurants: Get discounts at nearby restaurants.

Free Hiking Tours: We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Dedicated Workspace: Specific space for you to work remotely

Requirements

Fluent English or Fluent Hindi

Between 20 and 40 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details

Location: House of Nomad, Gangtok
Duration: Minimum 4 weeks preferred
Hours: 4–5 hours per day, 5 days a week
Exchange: Free accommodation + utilities (and extras if applicable)

Activities & Shift

- Morning shifts preferred (e.g., 9:00 am – 2:00 pm)
- 2 days off per week
- Flexible schedule depending on occupancy

#Housekeeping Responsibilities

- Cleaning dorm rooms and private rooms
- Changing bed linens and preparing rooms for new guests
- Cleaning bathrooms and common areas
- Sweeping, mopping, dusting, and general tidying
- Emptying trash and maintaining hygiene standards

#Gardening & Outdoor Tasks

- Watering plants and maintaining garden areas
- Basic weeding and plant care
- Sweeping outdoor areas, patios, and walkways
- Light landscaping and keeping outdoor spaces tidy
- Assisting with small maintenance tasks when needed
