Description:
The donation contributes to children’s book materials and includes accommodation and three meals per day.

Program Details
The Teaching Languages in West Sumbawa program is a community-based volunteer initiative supporting grassroots education through Laskar Cinta Alam, a philanthropic organization focused on empowering coastal children through language learning in Kertasari Village, West Sumbawa. Volunteers work alongside local teachers to deliver engaging, interactive language lessons in a nature-based learning environment. The program highlights cultural exchange, community empowerment, and long-term impact, with volunteers living with host families and contributing directly to improved access to language education in an underdeveloped community.
Activities & Shift
Activities
Assisting local teachers in delivering language lessons for children and youth
Creating fun, interactive, and creative learning activities (games, songs, storytelling)
Supporting classes at a nature-based learning space
Encouraging conversational language through informal practice
Participating in community and cultural activities when available
Shifts
Teaching activities run 4 days per week
Shifts are typically morning and afternoon sessions
Total volunteering time is around 4–5 hours per day
Weekends are generally free or include optional community activities
Rules
Respect local customs, traditions, and Islamic values at all times
Dress modestly, especially in the village, school areas, and during community activities
Alcohol, drugs, and any illegal substances are strictly prohibited
Smoking is not allowed in shared or community spaces unless permitted by the host
Public displays of affection are not appropriate in the village
Please be mindful of prayer times and keep noise levels low during prayers
Ask permission before taking photos or videos of people, especially children
Participate respectfully in community activities and follow guidance from local coordinators
Maintain cleanliness and help keep shared spaces tidy
