What you offer

13 hours of help per week

Bartending: Make and serve drinks and help maintain the beverages inventory.

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.

Arts: Help with painting, graffiti, sculpting or drawing.

Tour Guide: Organize and lead tours around the city.

Program Details

We’re looking for a friendly, outgoing and community-minded person to join our team in a work-for-accommodation role. This role is all about bringing people together, creating great vibes, and helping our guests make genuine connections during their stay.

This role would suit someone who is confident, approachable, enjoys being around people, and genuinely loves creating positive, social experiences. No need to be a professional instructor — just good energy, reliability, and a passion for bringing people together.

The average amount of hours are 12-15 per week (depending on high or low season).


Activities & Shift

- Hosting a basic yoga class - whether it be in our courtyard or at a park close by, this will be between 1-2 hours (messaging/ walking to and from location/ hosting). Days & times will be depend on the weather

- Movie nights - every Monday 7:30pm we host movie night, we supply popcorn and biscuits, you will be messaging the group chat/ set up movie/ preparing snacks/ pack down.

- Making waffles - Every Sunday 10am - 12pm, this can vary between 2-3 hours (messaging, prep the station/ cut up fruits/ make waffles/ pack down & clean)

- Hosting trivia nights in our bar - every Thursday evening 6-8pm ( may vary). Your duties include, messaging the group chat/ general prep & set up (pens, score cards etc)

- Taking guests to the local walking tour - Melbourne have free walking tours that run a couple times a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, your duties will be messaging the group chat/ rounding people up that have just arrived or are interested in the tour, walking them to the CBD (15-20 minutes) you aren't required to stay/ meet them in our bar when they come back and offer them a free drink

You will be responsible for putting a message in the hostel group chat 1 & 2 days prior to the activity as well as on the day including just prior to the event taking place. The more activity to promote the events, the better, we want to see photos/ reels/ videos in the group chat during and after the event, so a basic knowledge of editing is desirable. You will be given access to our social media accounts to do regular posts as well.


Rules

- The Mansion is a dry hostel (no alcohol consumption or possession on site), as mentioned, we do have a bar on site. It is only open Thursday & Friday at the moment
- All staff must follow our hostel code of conduct (washing dishes/ being kind & respectful to everyone - this is signed on arrival)
- We roster based on performance & availability
- If the hours per week are not met, the difference is to be paid to us to settle the balance
- If you work more than the required hours, your credits are rolled to the following week.
