Program Details
Our eco hostel is fully immersed in nature in the Alpujarra region (Andalusia), about 70 km from Granada and easily reachable by bus. The place was built in 1986 and is currently being renovated and restored with a sustainable and creative approach, in harmony with the natural surroundings.
The project is based on community living, skill sharing, and respect for nature. The hostel is managed by Boris Rodríguez Hauck, a free artist who lives on-site part of the year. When he is present, volunteers help take care of the hostel and coordinate daily activities together, coordinated by him.
Activities & Shift
Volunteers work 4 hours per day, usually from 9:00 to 13:00, with 2 days off per week.
Activities depend on the needs of the project and volunteers’ skills and may include:
- Stone or brick construction
- Carpentry and woodwork
- Painting and artistic decoration (e.g. mosaic art)
- Gardening and orchard care
- Taking care of the cats
- Cooking for and with the community
- Housekeeping and cleaning
Occasionally, specific projects may require extra time, always in a flexible and agreed way.
Rules
We expect volunteers to be responsible, respectful, and proactive.
Punctuality, collaboration, and respect for shared spaces, people, animals, and nature are essential.
Volunteers are expected to participate in community life and take care of the hostel as if it were their own home.
Disrespectful behavior toward people, animals, or the environment will not be tolerated.
