Program Details

Join our dedicated, volunteer-run non-profit Ebenezer Clinic in the heart of rural Gomba District, Uganda, where we provide essential, 24/7 healthcare and community support entirely through donations and the unwavering commitment of unpaid volunteers. Established in 2013 as part of Gomba Kwagalakwe Public Health Support Foundation, our mission is to deliver compassionate, accessible care at no profit — focusing on the most vulnerable: children, pregnant women, mothers, adolescents, and the elderly. All services (except vaccines and medications) are funded by donations, ensuring that no one is turned away due to inability to pay. Through our close partnership with Friends of Children Gomba, we extend our impact beyond the clinic walls with nutrition programs, education support (school supplies, tutoring, and scholar initiatives), home visits to vulnerable families, and protection efforts for children and mothers facing hardship.
As a Worldpacker volunteer, you'll immerse yourself in a truly hands-on, family-like environment while contributing to sustainable community health and development. Daily life blends meaningful work with cultural richness: expect approximately 4–6 hours of flexible tasks per day, 5–6 days per week, leaving 2 full days off for rest, exploration, or personal reflection. Your contributions might include assisting in pediatric check-ups, supporting labor/delivery/postnatal care, helping with OPD/emergency/routine consultations, internal medicine support, general patient comfort, health education sessions (on nutrition, hygiene, family planning, HIV awareness), community outreach and home visits, distributing nutritional aid and scholastic materials to children, organizing creative play/storytelling/games for kids, basic record-keeping/data entry, etc

Activities & Shift

At Ebenezer Clinic (24/7 non-profit, volunteer-run in rural Gomba District, Uganda), volunteers contribute 4–6 hours per day, 5–6 days per week, with 2 full days off for rest or exploration. Shifts are flexible and adapted to clinic needs, your skills, and daily flow — no rigid schedule, but always collaborative and family-like.
Main activities & shifts include:

Pediatric care — assisting with child check-ups, nutrition distribution, play/education activities for kids (games, storytelling, basic tutoring).
Labour, delivery & postnatal care — supporting mothers during birth, comforting patients, helping with newborn/mother care.
OPD, emergency & routine medication — patient registration, welcoming/comforting, organizing supplies, assisting with consultations and flow.
Internal medicine & general care — helping elderly/adult patients, chronic care support, health education sessions (nutrition, hygiene, HIV/family planning awareness).
Community outreach — home visits to vulnerable families, delivering nutritional aid/school materials (via Friends of Children Gomba partnership), running child/youth programs.
Support tasks — record-keeping, facility cleaning/organization, preparing/shared meals, photography/social media, fundraiser planning.
