Program Details
You are here to be the vital link between our amazing local staff and our international guests. Your primary goal is to create a welcoming atmosphere and ensure every traveler feels part of the community.
We take immense pride in being a 100% Nicaraguan-run operation and we never use volunteers to replace local jobs. This role involves no physical labor, no reception work, and no direct sales. Instead, you are the social catalyst—the person who makes sure no one sits alone and everyone knows about the fun activities we have planned. You will work across our two hostel buildings (located just 20 meters apart), ensuring a high-energy, inclusive vibe in both.
Activities & Shift
Your day is designed to be high-impact but low-intensity, giving you plenty of time to explore León.
Morning Connection (08:30 - 09:00): Put on your Poco a Poco shirt and visit both hostels during breakfast. Chat with guests, introduce yourself, and get people excited to sign up for the day’s activities.
Afternoon Motivation (14:00 - 15:00): Do another round at both hostels to motivate the "late starters" and ensure our sign-up lists are full of names. You will also send a quick, catchy update with a photo to our guest WhatsApp group.
Rooftop Welcome Drink (17:00 - 18:30): Prepare our signature welcome drink—cutting limes, sugaring the glass rims, and making fresh lemonade. Your job is to encourage everyone to head to the rooftop and then act as the host by facilitating conversations and introducing guests to each other.
Weekly Event Hosting: Be present at the evening events (like Taco or Salsa night) to keep the energy high. On Wednesday nights at 21:30, you will lead the group on a fun 10-minute walk to a local bar for live music.
Rules
To maintain our reputation and a safe environment, we have a few clear guidelines:
Professionalism: You are the "face" of the hostel. While we want you to have fun, you must always wear your Poco a Poco shirt while on duty so guests know who to turn to.
Alcohol & Drugs: Having a social beer with guests is fine, but getting drunk while on duty is strictly prohibited. We have a zero-tolerance policy for drugs; any use will result in immediate dismissal.
Presence: Your place is among the guests, not hanging around the reception desk. Focus on making connections in the common areas and the rooftop.
Couples: If you are applying as a couple, please note that your days off will be rotated so that we have social coverage 7 days a week.
