The experience

This year there will be more building work, but also maintenance and wood harvesting work on the land. Our aim is to enhance the experience for humans, while letting nature thrive.
We will create two more bedrooms in the red house: tiling floors, plastering and painting walls, installing windows and furnishing the rooms, as well as finishing the pathways through the land, started by last year's Worldpackers.
We will work hard, and also socialise.

Program Details

It's a simple concept which works really well. I feed and accommodate you and you work five hours a day five days a week towards the project. Volunteers make their own breakfast and sometimes their own lunch with ingredients provided, and I cook the evening meal.
It is a sociable space, whether we are in the living room, kitchen or sat out at the firepit in the evening. We are creating a refuge for artists and creative people to escape from the stresses of the modern world and I want you to experience that peace while you are here and bring your own ideas and unique energy.

Activities & Shift

Shifts are 10am - 1pm, 2pm - 4pm
Once we have got to know each other, it is possible to start earlier and finish earlier.
Everything is negotiable and flexible.
The creation of the rooms is a new project so the specifics of daily activities will become clear once I am back at the house.
Certainly we will be tiling the floors, plastering and then painting the walls, installing window frames and possibly even doors.
There is also work to be done on the land, maintaining and completing the pathways created by last year's volunteers, as well as the gathering, sorting and cutting of firewood.

Rules

The main rule is to be kind, considerate, friendly and hard working.
We work as a team and we socialise as a family.
When I cook, the volunteers do the washing up.
You keep your own room and the shared areas clean and tidy at all times.
Billy the dog requires that someone plays with him.
