⛵ Summer Sailing Camp: Support Young Sailors at Como Lake


The experience

We’re looking for experienced sailors and camp assistants to support our Summer Sailing Camps at Como Lake. This role is ideal for those who love sailing and enjoy working with children in an outdoor, active environment.
Volunteers will assist the main coaches onboard 4-person collective boats, helping ensure safety, organization, and fun for participants aged 7–16. You won’t replace paid staff, but your sailing skills and experience with kids w

Intermediate Italian or Intermediate English

Over 20 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details

The program consists of summer sailing camps for children and teenagers aged 7 to 16, with the aim of introducing them to sailing and outdoor sports in a safe, educational, and fun environment.
The camps take place at our sailing club in Dongo, Alto Lario (Lake Como), an area well known for its reliable wind conditions and strong sailing culture.

Volunteers and instructors are fully involved in daily life at the sailing club, working closely with the staff and taking part in both on-water and on-shore activities.


Activities & Shift

Volunteers support and participate in:

Sailing lessons on 4-person collective boats, with instructors and volunteers on board together with the students

On-water supervision and safety support

Boat rigging and derigging

Daily briefings and debriefings with the coaching staff

Shore-based activities related to sailing, teamwork, and safety

Assisting instructors during training sessions, games, and educational activities

Supporting the general daily organization of the camp and sailing club

During free time, volunteers have the opportunity to take wingfoil lessons, subject to weather conditions and availability.

Schedule & Shifts

Camps run Monday to Friday, during the summer season (June to August)

Activities mainly take place during daytime hours

Lunch breaks and rest periods are included

Volunteer involvement is primarily required during on-water sessions and key moments of the day (boat preparation, briefings, end-of-day wrap-up)

Schedules and daily organization may vary depending on weather conditions and weekly planning


Rules

The safety of children and teenagers is the top priority at all times

Volunteers must follow the instructions of the head instructors and club coordinators

Responsible, respectful, and positive behavior is required both on and off the water

Punctuality, teamwork, and reliability are essential

Volunteers must respect club rules, equipment, and facilities

Alcohol consumption and inappropriate behavior are strictly prohibited during activity hours
