I had a great time volunteering for the hostel! The work was manageable and organized and I had plenty of free time. Takayama is a great place to volunteer in and there are a lot of day trips and activities around. the hostel team was welcoming and friendly and provided everything needed. There was a great social atmosphere as well. I recommend this experience :)

It has been an engaging and memorable one month for me, thanks to the host's friendly staff members and also other young and energetic volunteer members. I had plenty of time to explore Takayama and its surrounding areas. Be able to connect with the locals who offered me a glimpse of Japanese culture was also the highlight of my trip.

I lived a happy month in Takayama :) Work is straightforward and well communicated. Food is plentiful, delicious and social. There are excellent opportunities to explore the city and the nearby mountains. There's often something happening and long-term staff are enthusiastic in helping you get the most of it. Thanks Murusaki team :)

I stayed for 2 weeks, but I wish I could have stayed longer! I had so much fun, it's such a sociable place. The staff are very friendly, the food is amazing, and the work is easy. Shifts are fair (4 hours a day and 2 days off per week) so you have plenty of time to explore! Takayama is beautiful too; I truly recommend staying here❤️

This volunteer mission was one of the best I ever had so far! The kitchen shifts was really cool and you get the chance to work with Ratree one of the best cheffe I ever met 🫶🏽 The accommodation is really cosy and close to your work place. There's a lot of things to do around like sake tasting, cooking class, walk by the river, excellent restaurants… This experience was also incredible thanks to all the staff who were really professional and welcoming, thanks to Javi, Ryutaro, Clara, Ratree, Hiromi, Radka, Liam, Luke, Maiko San for their hard work and for facilitating the work organization

Volunteering at the hostel has been a really nice experience. Takayama is a small city, but very picturesque and with a lot of history, a glimpse of what Japan really is. Working hours are very manageable, 4h per day max, which it gives you plenty of time to discover the city and all the surroundings, thanks to very well connected bus and train lines. Cherry on the cake, you are going to meet many international travellers, whom will make the experience full of memories.

I quite enjoyed my time as a volunteer at the hostel. The staff was great and I met some amazing international fellow volunteers. Work time is absolutely manageble and manly in the morning, leaving you with plenty of free time to spend as you wish. Yummy food is provided twice daily. Takayama is a lovely place and a great hub to explore the surroundings. Highly recommended place, host and experience

Staying at the hostel was like a home away from home. It was very lively when I was there, with many many volunteers staying together in one house and everyone including staff coming together for lunch, dinner, and karaoke or game night. I haven't felt this sort of community at any other volunteering place. The work - cleaning - was always doable within the four hours and days off were communicated well in advance, so it's possible to plan trips in advance. Takayama may be small, but there is loads to see and do around here.

I had a wonderful time doing this volunteering! The work is very manageable, the team did a good job clarifying expectations, and it gives enough time afterwards to explore the area. Lunch and dinner were provided daily, and we had access to many of the facilities offered across the locations. I met so many amazing people, the staff and other volunteers made it an incredible experience!!

Takayama is a great place to enjoy local culture, good food and nature. While people call it little Kyoto, I would rather say it's the better Kyoto! You will be able to connect to many other travellers here and the staff is also very nice. The work is easy.
