The experience

Digital & Social Media Volunteer – Coco Drift Hostel, Hiriketiya

Join the Coco Drift family in the heart of Hiriketiya and help us share the magic of our hostel with the world! We are looking for creative digital volunteers who can help us grow our online presence and capture the real vibes of surf, chill, culture and fun.

What You Will Do

Create engaging social media content (photos, videos, reels, stories)

Assist with Instagram, TikTok, Fac


What you offer

13 hours of help per week

Photography: Take, edit and provide amazing photos.

Video Making: Create, edit and publish digital videos.

Party Promoter: Help organise and promote parties and social activities.

Social Media: Maintain and update social media channels.


What you get

3 days off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Yoga classes: Take free yoga classes at our place.

Surf lessons: Take free surf classes at the local beaches.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely


Requirements

Fluent English

Between 18 and 35 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa


Program Details

Basic skills in photography / videography / editing

Responsible, positive and chilled vibe

Minimum stay: 2–3 weeks

3–4 hours work per day (flexible schedule)

Rules

1. Working Hours

Work 3–4 hours per day, flexible time.

If you need a day off, inform the manager earlier.

2. Content Creation

Capture real moments around the hostel (no fake or staged reviews).

Always make guests comfortable—ask permission before recording close-up videos/photos.

Send all final content to the manager before posting.

Keep hostel branding consistent (colors, vibe, style).

3. Social Media Posting

Post only approved content on official hostel pages.

Do not share passwords or logins with anyone.

Avoid posting any negative or personal drama online.

4. Behavior & Professionalism

Be respectful to guests and staff at all times.

Maintain a positive vibe—no bad attitude, arguments, or gossip.

Keep common areas clean after using them for photos/videos.

5. Equipment

Use your own phone/camera.

Take care of any hostel equipment you borrow (lights, tripod, etc.).

6. Confidentiality

Do not expose guest private info, faces, or conversations without permission.

Do not record inside guest rooms without approval.

7. Safety

No risky content—no climbing roofs, driving bikes dangerously, etc.

Protect your devices; hostel is not responsible for lost or damaged items.

8. Accommodation Rules

Keep your bed space clean.

No loud noise in dorms after 11 PM.

Respect shared spaces and other volunteers.

9. Alcohol & Parties

Drinking is allowed but responsible.

During work hours, no drinking or being hungover.

If there is a party, help capture content only if you are able and safe.

10. Leaving Policy

If a volunteer disrespects the rules or creates trouble, manager can end the stay.

Minimum 2–3 weeks stay unless agreed otherwise.
