This position is a part-time role (15â18 hours per week max) supporting my small and growing hospitality business on Bowen Island. I'm a single mom of two kids here on Bowen Island, and I've been hosting volunteers in my home and working with my business for years, so I have lots of references. Youâll be part of a close-knit team caring for thoughtfully designed vacation homes and helping create welcoming, high-quality guest experiences at beautiful properties that are unique.
I value initiative, reliability, and good communication. Iâm not looking for perfection or prior hospitality experience so much as a mindful, self-directed person who enjoys creating beauty, hosting, and contributing to a team. You should be comfortable working independently at times and asking questions/seeking support when neededâwe are a caring team!
In return, you can expect a beautiful place to live by the sea, a respectful and supportive environment, a monthly stipend, and clear expectations. Youâll share a well-designed two-bedroom apartment near Snug Cove with one other team member, have access to a vehicle for work needs, and enjoy plenty of free time to explore Bowen Island, Vancouver, and the Sea-to-Sky corridor. You'll also spend time with me and the kids! My aim is to create an experience that feels balanced and fun.
This role is best suited to someone looking for a longer stay (not just a few weeks), who enjoys island life, values community, and is excited to learn about hospitality, small business, and life in the Pacific Northwest. If youâre curious, grounded, and open-hearted, youâll feel at home here.
Activities & Shift
Tasks vary and may include turnovers, organization, staging, errands, and general hosting support. Work is collaborative and practicalâno two weeks look exactly the same and we will decide at the start of each week who will go whereâthe farm, oceanfront cottages, vintage cabin by the sea, trailside inn & forest sauna, etc. If you like dynamic, varied work, this position will be fun. The expectations of only 15-18h of work per week max is intentional so nobody burns outâmany hands make light work. You'll also have a lot of time to pursue other thingsâwhether that be your own work, studies, and/or adventure and exploring the area. Your host, Saskia, is an avid adventurer and knows the region well.
Rules
You should have a work visa for Canada to apply for this position. If you still feel called to come under a different arrangement, reach out and let's see if we can figure something out. I want to find the right people more than anything!
Ideally, you also have a drivers license and a clean driving record.
