Program Details
Each year, hundreds of wild animals are brought into Taşkent Nature Park due to being orphaned, sick, or injured. After the initial admission, they receive specialized, high-quality care, medical treatment, and physical rehabilitation to ensure their safe return to the wild. Our volunteers and interns are involved with multiple aspects related to this process.
As a volunteer/intern at our Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, you will get a hands-on experience with:
🔵 Generalized and specialized care of various native species of birds, mammals, and reptiles of Cyprus
🔵 Rehabilitation of injured wildlife
🔵 Monitoring of behavior and posture of animals in rehabilitation facilities and sanctuary
🔵 Animal health checkups, weighing, ringing, measuring
🔵 Updating admission protocols
🔵 Designing and constructing animal enclosures and enrichments
🔵 Maintaining facilities and grounds to ensure smooth functioning and high standards
🔵 Attending wildlife releases
🔵 As part of the program, participants will join a weekly cleaning session of 1-2 hours, helping maintain the park and its surroundings, support a cleaner environment, and protect our local wildlife habitat through our small contribution.
Apart from native species, volunteers help with the daily care and regular health checks of farm animals and exotic species that are housed on our premises. These animals are frequently brought to our facility due to poor welfare conditions or illegal origin. Our volunteers help to ensure the best possible care to allow them to restore and maintain their species-specific behaviors and good levels of physical and psychological health.
Activities & Shift
This program accepts volunteers all year round. The placements within this program are full-time roles.
Volunteers from this program work 5 full days (8 hours) and have 2 full day offs every week. This schedule is flexible as it reflects the number of students at a given time and the amount of workload. As a standard criterion, students work maximum 40 hours a week.
