Program Details

Our projet :
Hello everyone! My name is Laia. My partner John and I have recently acquired a beautiful piece of property on the Fraser River outside of Quesnel BC. Its 67 acres of nature, including slopy terrain, flats, lots of biodiversity, pockets of different types of forest and lots of space to create. We have many projects for the place like expending the garden, planting more fruit and maple trees, making a chicken coop, a sauna, building trails (cross-country ski, walking or biking), fuel manage the forest to lower forest fire susceptibility and making it a wildlife sanctuary (we already have bears, eagles, deer, moose, sandhill cranes and great blue herons appreciating the nature and the beauty of the land).
Basically, we are in love with the land, but there is a lot of work to do and we need volunteers to give us a hand with the project and come enjoy the location while doing so. In the long term, we want the place to be a havoc for people and animals that appreciate nature and all the activities one can do in it and in harmony with it.

Activities & Shift

We expect 5 hours of work per day (possibility to do more hours some days to do fewer other days). John and I will get you set up with instructions and material to do the jobs, we intend to guide your progresses and work with you whenever possible, but we need volunteers to be able to work independently, as we both have day jobs to pay for food and mortgage and may have other projects on the go on the land (you’ll always see us working on something, even if it not always the same projects as you) . In exchange for the 5 hours of work, you get to stay in the cabin, facing the river, in the center of a piece of paradise. We also will provide food (all the basics necessary to make your own breakfast, lunch and snacks. At night we will share a meal cooked by myself, or one of you if you cook well and want to do some of your work hours doing so.
Requirements:
Everyone welcome, no matter the background. You must speak and understand either English, Spanish, French or Portuguese, for communication purposes. You must have your own wheels (car) to go to town or explore the surroundings on you days or part days off. We are looking for people starting in May. If this speak to you, please contact us.
