Alma Hostel Colombo

Alma Hostel is looking for a Social Host to help create a warm, inclusive, and welcoming environment for travelers from all around the world.

This role is ideal for a confident, creative woman who enjoys connecting with people, hosting fun social events, and capturing real moments through content — all in a fun, respectful, and supportive space.

What you offer

32 hours of help per week

Night Shift: Help with night shift tasks and create a relaxing environment for guests.

Tour Guide: Organize and lead tours around the city.

Party Promoter: Help organise and promote parties and social activities.

Reception: Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.

1 day off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Tours: Get discounts for tours and excursions around town.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Between 18 and 35 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Be from outside Sri Lanka

Program Details

At Alma Hostel Colombo, being our Social Host is about creating a warm, inclusive, and genuinely social environment for travelers from around the world.

As a Social Host, you will welcome guests, help them feel comfortable, and encourage positive, respectful social interaction. You’ll connect with guests daily, introduce people to each other, and help build a friendly community atmosphere.

You will also host simple social events such as quiz nights, movie nights, karaoke, games, and social mixers. These events are low-pressure and designed to help guests connect naturally.

In addition, you will support Alma’s social media by capturing real moments from hostel life and events. This includes taking photos and short videos (with consent) and creating simple Instagram reels that reflect the hostel’s social vibe.

Alma is a female-friendly, respectful, and supportive environment with clear boundaries and professionalism at all times.

💫 What You’ll Do

GUEST EXPERIENCE & COMMUNITY
* Greet guests and make everyone feel welcome and included and give them an introduction to the hotel.
* Assisting Guests with travel tips and plans, which we will provide
* Connect with guests daily and help them feel comfortable and at home
* Encourage positive, respectful social interaction among travelers

SOCIAL MEDIA
* Capture genuine moments from daily hostel life and events
* Take photos and short videos of guests and activities (with consent)
* Create simple Instagram reels that reflect Alma’s friendly, social vibe!

EVENT HOSTING
Host and manage fun, low-pressure social events such as:
* Quiz nights
* Movie nights
* Karaoke nights & Nightouts
* Games and social mixers
* Create an atmosphere where everyone feels safe, relaxed, and involved
