Program Details

As our Digital Storyteller, you are the bridge between our on-the-ground work in the cloud forest and the global community we wish to inspire. This program is designed for creative individuals who want to use media as a tool for positive impact. You will have the unique opportunity to capture the essence of our project—from morning garden harvests and natural building progress to the quiet beauty of the mountain streams. We provide the inspiring subject matter, context, and basic guidance on our mission. In return, we ask for your creative eye, proactive ideas, and commitment to portraying our work authentically. Expect a balance of independent creative time and collaborative planning, all within the rhythm of our off-grid life.

Activities & Shift

Your commitment is 25 hours per week over 5 days, with two consecutive days off. The role offers flexibility but requires initiative and time management.

Content Creation & Gathering (Flexible Hours): This is your core work. You will schedule time to photograph and film daily activities, projects, interviews with team members, and the natural environment (forest, river, mountain vistas). This includes capturing "behind-the-scenes" moments and structured shots.

Editing & Management (Flexible Hours): You will dedicate time to selecting, editing, and organizing media. You'll also assist in managing our social media calendar, drafting captions, and scheduling posts that tell a cohesive story.

Collaboration & Planning: You will regularly check in with the project coordinators to align on messaging, upcoming highlights, and review content. Some light website updating or blog writing may be included based on your skills.

Integration: While your focus is digital, we encourage you to spend some time participating in farm or building activities. This firsthand experience is the best way to understand and authentically document our project.

Rules

Authenticity & Respect: Always seek consent before photographing or filming community members. Portray our project, challenges, and successes honestly and respectfully.

Initiative & Communication: Proactively identify stories and plan your content schedule. Communicate your ideas and needs clearly during weekly check-ins.

Device & Data Responsibility: You are responsible for the safety and security of your own equipment (phone, camera, laptop). Use provided Wi-Fi reasonably for work tasks; large uploads/downloads should be planned.

Work Balance: Manage your 25 weekly hours effectively, blending fieldwork (capturing content) with deskwork (editing, posting). Be present during agreed-upon collaborative meetings.

Community Integration: Adhere to all general community rules (quiet hours, cleanliness, shared space respect). Your role is part of the community, not separate from it.

Ownership & Sharing: All created content is to be shared with the project for our ongoing use. We encourage you to build your portfolio with this work and will gladly provide credit.
