Care for children and support community projects in rural Uganda

The experience

Worldpackers at RAVT Innovation Centre support children, vulnerable families, and community spaces through care, learning, and small repair activities. Days may include helping with play-based learning, assisting community outreach, supporting elders, and doing light maintenance or improvements. We value patience, respect, teamwork, and a genuine commitment to positive social impact in rural Uganda.

What you offer

18 hours of help per week

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Elderly Care: Assisting and spending time with the elderly.

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 10 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers, Materials for volunteer activities, and Donation to project

Description: The funding cover basic services while at the center, include meals, accomodation, water among others.

What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Tent: You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Drinks: Get discounts for drinks and beverages from our bar.

Discounts on Accommodation: Get discounts for your stay in other hostels.

Free Hiking Tours: We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Yoga classes: Take free yoga classes at our place.

Holistic Therapies: You can take part in any of our therapeutic activities for free.

Permaculture Course: Take part in our Permaculture course for free.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Program Details

activities at RAVT Innovation Centre. Volunteers should be responsible, respectful, and willing to learn from the community.

Activities & Shift

Activities

• Spend time with elders and vulnerable families when needed

Shifts
Volunteers work 4–5 hours per day, usually in the morning or afternoon. Schedules are organized in advance and remain flexible, allowing time for rest, learning, and cultural exchange.

Rules

All volunteers must respect children, elders, and community members at all times. Child protection and safeguarding rules must be followed, including appropriate behavior and consent before photos. Alcohol or substance use during work hours is prohibited. Keep shared spaces clean, follow schedules, and communicate openly and respectfully with the team and community.
