Support youth and refugee communities in rural Uganda


The experience

Worldpackers at RAVT Innovation Centre support youth, refugee, and community programs through social work and language learning activities. Daily life includes assisting workshops, mentoring young people, facilitating basic language sessions, and engaging in community outreach. Volunteers help promote education, inclusion, and sustainability while learning from grassroots initiatives and everyday life in rural Uganda.


What you offer

18 hours of help per week

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 10 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers, Materials for volunteer activities, and Donation to project

Description: The costs will cover, food, clean water, maintainance and financing voluteer organisation.


What you get

3 days off per week

Intermediate English

Between 18 and 75 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

Worldpackers are expected to actively support community-based social work and learning activities at RAVT Innovation Centre, including programs for children, youth, and refugees. Tasks may include assisting children’s activities, supporting basic language learning sessions, participating in workshops, and engaging respectfully with community members. Volunteers should be patient, responsible, and open-minded.

In return, RAVT provides a safe and welcoming environment, cultural exchange, guidance, and meaningful learning experiences. Mutual respect, clear communication, and collaboration are essential throughout the stay.


Activities & Shift

Activities
• Support children, youth, and refugee community programs
• Assist with basic language learning and educational activities
• Help facilitate games, discussions, and creative sessions
• Participate in workshops and community outreach
• Support daily center activities as needed

Shifts
Volunteers work 4–5 hours per day, mainly in the morning or early afternoon. Schedules are flexible and planned together, allowing time for rest, learning, and cultural exchange.


Rules

Worldpackers must respect children, community members, and local culture at all times. Child protection rules must be followed strictly, including appropriate behavior and consent. Alcohol or substance use during working hours is not allowed. Keep shared spaces clean, follow agreed schedules, and communicate openly and respectfully with staff and community members.
