The experience

Yahweh Is God Ministries Uganda is an orphanage in Jinja near the source of the Nile. From Jan 12–Feb 28, 2026, we will host a documentary filmmaker to share our mission and the children’s stories with the world. We seek a female Documentary Assistant to help with filming, B-roll, equipment support, off-site shoots, and simple paperwork. Accommodation, meals, and support are provided.


What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Program Details

This program supports the production of a documentary highlighting the work of Yahweh Is God Ministries Uganda, an orphanage based in Jinja near the source of the Nile. The documentary aims to raise global awareness about the lives of vulnerable children, the care they receive, and the impact of faith, education, and community.
The Documentary Assistant will work closely with the filmmaker, assisting with filming, B-roll capture, equipment handling, basic photography, and simple documentation. Some filming will take place early mornings, evenings, and at remote locations.
The program promotes cultural exchange, skill development in documentary work, and meaningful service. Volunteers will be hosted in a safe, supportive environment with accommodation, meals, and guidance throughout their stay.


Activities & Shift

Activities
Assist filmmaker during early morning and evening shoots
Capture B-roll footage and support main filming
Operate or assist with cameras, drones, lighting, and audio equipment
Support off-site and remote location filming
Help with basic paperwork and documentation for the documentary
Work independently or as part of a team
Assist with other tasks as needed to support the production
Shifts / Schedule
Hours: 5 hours per day
Days: 5 days per week
Time: Flexible (mostly early mornings and late evenings depending on shoot locations and weather)
Location: On-site at the orphanage and occasionally off-site for remote shoots


Rules

Respect the privacy of children – ask before filming or photographing.
No alcohol, drugs, or smoking on site or during shifts.
Be punctual and reliable; notify in advance if unavailable.
Follow all safety instructions, especially outdoors and with equipment.
Treat staff, children, and volunteers with respect and kindness.
Keep all information about the children and orphanage confidential.
Dress modestly and comfortably for filming and outdoor activities.
Work cooperatively as part of a team and follow instructions.
Respect local culture, faith, and the orphanage’s mission.
Maintain clean and organized living and work spaces.
