The experience

If you’re planning to explore Hanoi and looking for a meaningful volunteering experience, welcome to English Homestay LongBien! 🌿
We are an educational homestay project where Vietnamese students and international guests live, learn, and grow together under one roof. Our mission is to create an immersive English-speaking environment while building real cultural connections between locals and travelers from around the world.

What you offer

18 hours of help per week

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Arts: Help with painting, graffiti, sculpting or drawing.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.

What you get

1 day off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Parties: Get discounts at nearby parties and clubs.

Discounts on Restaurants: Get discounts at nearby restaurants.

Discounts on Drinks: Get discounts for drinks and beverages from our bar.

Discounts on Tours: Get discounts for tours and excursions around town.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Parties: Get free entrance for the best parties in town.

Free Events: Get free entrance for the best events in town.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Dance classes: Take free dance classes at our place.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Holistic Therapies: You can take part in any of our therapeutic activities for free.

Permaculture Course: Take part in our Permaculture course for free.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely

Dedicated Workspace: Specific space for you to work remotely

Requirements

Fluent English or Fluent Chinese

Between 18 and 50 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

What's not included

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa

Program Details

We’re located in Long Bien, Hanoi, a friendly student district just outside Hanoi city center. It’s peaceful, local, and full of charm — yet only about 20–30 minutes away from the Old Quarter by bus or motorbike. Around us, you’ll find street food, coffee shops, parks, and daily Vietnamese life at its most authentic.
Here, you’ll not only have a place to sleep, but a family to share meals, laughter, and unforgettable moments with. Our students truly value the time they spend learning, talking, and connecting with volunteers from around the world.

Activities & Shift

Volunteers help our students improve their English communication through:
• Conversational practice (Free talk sessions)
• Cultural exchange activities
• Group discussions or games in English
• Occasional sharing about your country and experiences

Rules

18 hours/week, 6 days (Monday–Saturday evenings).
Sundays are your free days to rest or explore Hanoi.
