The experience

I am a semi retired man who works from home with with my Springer Spaniel, 'Lizzy' for company.
My work will occasionally take me away from home so you must feel comfortable being on your own and being responsible for the house.
As a Christian, those principles apply in my house. Although open to all, I would prefer Christian backpackers.
I only require a little help around the house (and garden) and can be flexible when this will be required

What you offer

10 hours of help per week

Pet Sitting: Taking care of and looking after pets.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely

Program Details

This is an opportunity for you to visit, explore and make friends with the people of Orkney. Orkney is famed for its fabulous array of festivals including music festivals such as the Orkney Folk festival, The St Magnus International Festival, Orkney Blues Festival, Orkney Rock Festival and more. Other festivals include the Orkney Nature Festival, Stromness Shopping Week, the Orkney International Science Festival and the Orkney Storytelling Festival
You are free to explore Stromness and Orkney on your own or with my assistance (when available)

Activities & Shift

You will be expected to contribute to the upkeep of the house, during your stay, including light household and other tasks. Depending on the weather, you will be expected to undertake general garden maintenance and help remove the garden. There maybe times that work takes me away for a day or two so you must feel comfortable having responsibility for the house and looking after my 2 year old, English Springer Spaniel.
There will be flexibility as to when these tasks can be undertaken.

Rules

Christian principles apply in my house:
It is okay to drink alcohol, but not excessively,
Drugs (other than prescribed medicines) must not be brought into the house,
Smoking is not permitted.
A degree of modesty is expected around the house
