The experience
Volunteering in Kafumu Village means living and contributing alongside the community to create real impact. Volunteers support child care, gardening, social work, and sports activities that promote well-being, sustainability, and youth empowerment. Days include 4–5 hours of meaningful activities, cultural exchange, shared meals, and learning from one another in a peaceful rural setting.
What you offer
18 hours of help per week
Child Care:
Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.
Social Work:
Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.
Teaching Sports:
Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.
Teaching Languages:
Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.

Description:
The costs will cover food provision, access to clean and safe water, facility maintenance, and the operational support of the volunteer program.
What you get

You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Fluent English or Intermediate French
Between 18 and 80 years old

Program Details
Worldpackers are not just volunteers they become part of a lively, caring community. We welcome open-minded, positive, and curious individuals who are ready to learn, laugh, and contribute meaningfully. Volunteers support child care, gardening, community and social work, and sports activities, with tasks shaped around your skills, interests, and creativity.
In return, you can expect a warm, supportive environment filled with cultural exchange, shared meals, music, stories, and everyday village life. You’ll collaborate about 4–5 hours a day, leaving plenty of time to relax, explore, and connect. Along the way, you’ll gain new skills, fresh perspectives, deep friendships, and unforgettable memories that stay with you long after you leave.
Activities & Shift
Daily Activities
Support child care through play, learning activities, mentoring, and creative sessions
Help with gardening tasks such as planting, watering, harvesting, and basic farm maintenance
Assist in community and social work activities, including youth and refugee-led initiatives
Organize or support sports, games, and physical activities for children and young people
Help with light cleaning, organizing materials, and maintaining shared spaces
Shifts
Volunteers support the center 4–5 hours per day, 5 days a week
Shifts are usually flexible, typically in the morning or early afternoon
Schedules are planned together, allowing time for rest, cultural exchange, and exploring village life
Activities may vary depending on community needs, seasons, and volunteer skills, making every day engaging and meaningful.

No drugs or illegal substances are allowed at the center
Alcohol should be consumed responsibly and only with prior agreement

Keep shared spaces clean and respect community property
Be punctual, responsible, and communicate openly with the team
Maintain a positive, open-minded attitude and willingness to learn
