The experience

Join our volunteer team in a surf oriented hostel in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica.

This is a great opportunity to help out in an environment filled with community, good vibes, incredible setting and constant interaction with other travelers from all over the world.

At Akih Pods Hostel we are know for providing an unforgettable experience to each guest, as well as providing a safe and fun volunteering environment for our volunteer applicants.

What you offer

30 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.

Administration: Help with booking systems and payments.

Reception: Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.

What you get

1 day off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Free Events: Get free entrance for the best events in town.

Yoga classes: Take free yoga classes at our place.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely

Fluent English or Beginner Spanish

Between 20 and 40 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details

At Akih Pods Hostel, we offer volunteers:

To join our volunteer team, you must meet the following requirements:
- Advanced English
- Problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication
- Social skills and guest interaction
- Ability to multitask and attend to guest requests
- Ability to handle situations under pressure

*Daily Responsibilities*
- Reception
- Check-in/Check-outs
- Making beds and laundry
- Waste and recycling management
- Cleaning and organization
- Tour and event organization
- Surf rental assistance
- Guest interaction
- Payment and platform management
- Gardening

*Schedule and Calendar*
- 5-hour volunteer shifts:
- 7AM-12PM
- 12PM-5PM
- 5PM-10PM
- 1 day-off per week
- Minimum stay of 45 days as a volunteer
- 15 days' notice prior to ending commitment
