Muzanga Foundation is an NGO working on community development near South Luangwa. As a Social Media Volunteer, you provide the creative assistance necessary to keep our organisation visible and running. You will work side-by-side with our great local team, who will guide you as you document our mission and daily life. This is a highly varied experience that allows you to try many different things within our organisation while making a practical difference.
Activities & Shift
This role is hands-on and creative. We work in flexible shifts, to capture content and respond to the priorities of the guesthouse and projects. Our local team will work alongside you, helping you navigate the different areas of the foundation for your content.
Your tasks will include:
Content creation: Creating social media content and supporting creative projects to tell the Muzanga story.
Operational support: As a volunteer, you can also assist with daily hosting duties and campsite upkeep.
Free time activities:
Safari & wildlife: You can easily visit South Luangwa National Park. Short-term volunteers need to cover the park fee. You can also go into the Game Management Area (GMA) or relax along the riverbanks.
Cultural connection: You can join staff on project days or village tours. Our team sometimes invites volunteers to their homes, local soccer games, or church services, offering an opening to daily African life.
Social & leisure: Back at the headquarters, you can relax in our swimming pool or join our social evenings. We host fun nights like movie nights, a braai/pizza night, karaoke, game nights, or campfires.
Rules
Minimum stay: the minimum stay for short-term volunteering is 4 weeks (4–12 weeks).
Commitment: flexibility is needed, with the aim of finding a schedule that suits you, the team, and our guests.
Volunteer contribution fee: the mandatory reimbursement fee for short-term volunteers (under 3 months) is USD 15 per day, which covers your living costs.
Respect and culture: we look for people who are open to new connections and cultural experiences.
Safety: safekeeping is provided by our night guard.
Visa & travel: you are responsible for obtaining the correct visa and covering all travel costs to reach the foundation.
