House Sitting and Language Exchange in the Swiss AlpsšŸ”ļø

Program Details

The accommodation is in a typical 18th-century Ticino chalet located in the heart of the Swiss Alps at 1,400 meters above sea level. Just 300 meters from the Ritom funicular, 10 meters from the bus stop, and 7 minutes from the Quinto highway exit, the chalet is an excellent base for backpackers, globetrotters, digital nomads, mountaineers, skiers, snowboarders, open-minded travelers, couples, and nature lovers.

The chalet is cozy, vintage, and a bit rustic — so please don’t expect 5-star accommodation (and if you decide to stay, please don’t complain about that šŸ˜‰).
Because it’s a historic building, the ceilings are only 185–195 cm high and there are exposed beams, so it may feel uncomfortable for people taller than 180 cm.

Here, you can enjoy fresh mountain air, peace, breathtaking landscapes, and scenic nature trails. The area is ideal year-round: long hikes, pristine forests, mountain biking, or skiing and snowboarding at the nearby Airolo, CarƬ, Prato Leventina, and Andermatt Sedrun slopes.

My name is Ettore — I’m a father and entrepreneur. I run my own technical support company and manage my vacation rental, a business I founded with my ex-girlfriend and now manage entirely on my own.
I’m easygoing, friendly, and open-minded. I’ve traveled widely, am used to sharing spaces with others, and value mutual respect and tolerance.

Activities & Shift

I’m always interested in meeting new people and exchanging experiences, especially through language exchange. I’m currently studying Russian and Albanian and improving my Spanish.

I offer room, board, and Italian lessons if needed. Optional help with cleaning and cooking is appreciated, as well as language lessons or conversation in Spanish, English, Russian, Albanian, or any other language you may speak ✨

The kitchen is shared with me and with the guests of the house (where my vacation rental business also operates). Volunteers can also use my living room to work, read, relax, or enjoy a coffee.

Rules

• The volounteer can normally sleep on a sofĆ  in the living room or share a bedroom.
• There are 2 bathrooms, one with a shower.
• This experience is ideal for positive, informal, multicultural travelers who are used to hostel-style living, tents, shared spaces, and sharing a room or sleepinf on a sofĆ .
• If you’re seeking privacy, luxury, or are not comfortable sharing spaces, this is not the right fit.
• I’m happy to share experiences with volunteers — outings with friends, dinners out, skiing, walks, small trips, and excursions in the area.
