The experience

Join us in northern Germany and bring your love for cooking! We’re looking for someone to prepare dinner or lunch every day and share culture through food. One of us eats gluten- and dairy-free, so meals should reflect that — but we’re excited to try new ideas, so bring your favorite recipes, also for cakes or other treats. Beyond the kitchen, you can join in gardening, small projects, and enjoy peaceful countryside life.

Program Details

We welcome volunteers who are curious, reliable, and open to sharing daily life in the countryside. Your main contribution will be preparing the evening meal, taking into account that one of us eats gluten- and dairy-free. Beyond the kitchen, you may join in gardening, small renovation projects, or outdoor work depending on the season and your interests.

In return, you can expect clear communication, fair scheduling, and a respectful atmosphere. We treat volunteers as part of the household, balancing shared time with personal space. You’ll enjoy cultural exchange, language practice, and the chance to explore northern Germany’s nature and nearby cities.

Activities & Shift

- Cooking: Prepare the evening meal/lunch each day (gluten- and dairy-free options included).
- Kitchen tasks: Keep the kitchen tidy, help with shopping or meal planning when needed.
- Additional projects: Join gardening, small renovations, or outdoor work depending on season and interest.
- Community life: Share meals, exchange recipes, and enjoy cultural exchange.
Shifts: Volunteers usually help 4–5 hours per day, 5 days a week. Cooking is the main daily task, while other activities are flexible and coordinated together. Free time is respected, and tasks are matched to your skills and preferences.

Rules

- Please respect shared spaces and keep them tidy after use.
- Cooking is a daily task — flexibility and creativity in the kitchen are appreciated.

- Be mindful of our cats; they are part of the household and should feel comfortable.
- Alcohol is fine in moderation, but we prefer a calm and respectful atmosphere.
- Open communication is key — if something feels unclear, just ask.
