The experience

Join our team to capture the spirit of The Yak! You'll create daily stories of guest activities and staff interactions, produce weekly reels (POV, vlog, lifestyle), and design flyers as needed. Perfect for creative volunteers who love mkt, content creation, social media, and bringing a hostel’s energy to life.

What you offer

30 hours of help per week

Photography: Take, edit and provide amazing photos.

Party Promoter: Help organise and promote parties and social activities.

Social Media: Maintain and update social media channels.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Requirements

Intermediate English or Intermediate Spanish

Between 18 and 40 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details

Our Marketing & Content Program is designed for volunteers who want to help us document and share the Yak experience. You will support our team by creating daily stories, weekly reels, and simple design pieces that showcase our activities, guests, and hostel atmosphere.

We offer shared accommodation, one staff meal per day, discounts at our restaurant and bar, and reduced rates on selected tours. Expectations are clear and structured so you can enjoy your stay while contributing creatively.
Only the benefits mentioned here are included in the program.

Activities & Shift

Volunteers are expected to support our marketing efforts through the following activities:

• Create and upload stories for all hostel activities (minimum 2 stories per activity).
• Produce daily stories showing guest interaction and Yak staff life (minimum 2 per day).
• Create and upload 3 reels per week (POV, vlog, lifestyle) of 15–20 seconds, vertical 9:16 format.
• Design simple flyers according to team needs.
• Participate in specific design or marketing projects when assigned.

Shifts are organized in collaboration with the management team to ensure a balanced workload and free time to enjoy Bacalar.

Rules

• Respect the content schedule and deliver assigned materials on time.
• Maintain a positive, respectful attitude with guests, staff, and fellow volunteers, respect the code of conduct that will be provided.
• Use equipment responsibly (your own phone or camera).
• Follow hostel guidelines for shared spaces and accommodation.
• Benefits include only what is explicitly listed: shared accommodation, one daily staff meal, restaurant/bar discounts, and selected tour discounts. Anything not mentioned is not included.
*Drugs are not allowed, people from outside cannot stay where all the volunteers and the staff live, be respectful with each other.
Housing is in a shared mix bedroom, the building is 5 min. from Yak walking (housing is not in the hostel, but you have access to the hostel facilities to enjoy the pier, restaurant, bar, etc)
