This the Center was a beautiful and heartwarming experience. You had the opportunity to engage with teachings, attend meditations, and ask questions to monks/visiting guests regarding their spirituality. The work is time-consuming, and I stayed here during the winter where days are shorter. However, on break days there is possibility to take trips to neighboring cities like Nottingham, London, Leicester, etc. There are plenty of trails for nature-lovers, and the scenery along with the friendly hosts make the experience what it is :)

My experience at the Tara the Center (TIKRC) was incredible! I was able to share great moments with super excited volunteers and super polite and helpful guests. In addition, of course, I got to spend time with the people who live at the Center. I am very grateful to Donna and Sam for all the respect, affection and joy with which they treated me and everyone who passes through the place. I will carry these beautiful memories with me for the rest of my life. Someday I will return. A big hug to everyone.

My experience at the Center had some positive aspects, like the well-prepared vegetarian food (even though I'm not vegetarian), the peaceful atmosphere, and the nice people. However, the workload felt too heavy for a volunteer position, about 6 hours a day doing tasks such as cooking, gardening, external services, and helping in the café. Having to pay for things like laundry also made the exchange feel less fair. With a lighter workload and some activities dedicated to volunteers, the experience could be much more balanced and welcoming.🙂

I was planning to stay for two weeks, but for personal reasons, I left early. Everyone at the center is very friendly. The only thing is that the tasks rotate. You have a daily meeting where they tell you what you'll be doing that day. I prefer the routine of knowing what to do each day. But the rest is great!

Tara Center es un lugar muy lindo, con una gran apertura para aprender sobre el budismo. Las actividades a realizar son un verdadero reto ya que implican un desafiante esfuerzo físico y se espera que estes dispuesto a participar en todos los tipos de tareas como: jardinería, limpieza, cocina y asistencia en coffee shop. Hay que tomar en cuenta que resulta complicado aprovechar tu tiempo libre ya que conocerás las actividades a realizar por la mañana del día en curso, los horarios son fragmentados, al igual que los descansos. Sin duda, fue una experiencia con grandes enseñanzas.

Spent 4 weeks at Tara Center, working in housekeeping and kitchen, and helping prepare the Curry and Calm and Christmas lunch❤️ Highlights of my stay:✅I learned more about Buddhism,✅I participated in activities like chanted prayers, meditation, and classes,✅I met amazing people who live and work at the center. Things that could be improved:🟠Meals could be more balanced, with more protein,🟠Allow earlier finishes if tasks are done. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay, and I would recommend Tara Center to anyone!🥰

I had a great time at Tara IKRC the Center. Donna, Nath, Lisa, and everyone in Ximena are so special and friendly. The cafe is great to work in, where you can make coffee and chat with more people. Of course, the kitchen is also great, where we can follow Tara's chef to make our delicious meals. I must go again, and miss you~
