This was such a great experience and I only regret not planning on staying longer! Polina the host is so lovely and looks after all her volunteers. She is very relaxed and flexible with shifts so you can do trips all over the island. The hostel is nice and well located. Palermo itself is very diverse so you get to meet lots of guests from all over the world. I totally recommend this to anyone who loves travel and meeting interesting people!

Overall, I absolutely loved the hostel! The volunteers were amazing, Polina was so nice and flexible and very responsive! I had so much fun hanging out at the hostel, seeing Palermo, and even doing the actual work! The work was also very easy and simple. About the hostel, I will say that the oven didn't work, neither did the laundry. There was no breakfast. Instead we were give money to get breakfast and do laundry. But that wasn't too bad. I would definitely love to come back again!!!<3 If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!!!

My experience in Barlam Hostel was really great! mainly because of the people I came across and the atmosphere, both the other volunteers and the guests were always great people! The owner and the manager Polina are very open and communicative people. The tasks are not difficult but they must be done well to maintain the hostel as it should be. It is true that the facilities are a bit old, but the kitchen is great & you have such a good time that is all you will remember. Palermo is awesome! its people, the food, beaches, I will definitely go back! Thanks to all the divine people I met!

I had a lot of fun working here. The other volunteers were very welcoming and there are always new guests to interact with. The hostel has a very laid-back environment and the work was easy. One to two hours of cleaning and then reception. The location is fantastic. Three blocks from the train station and one block in either direction to a bus stop. There is a Lidl on the next block also. The only thing that was not as expected was the washing machine was broken. But there are launderers nearby if you prefer. I chose however to just wash my clothes in the sink. It was not too bad.

Amazing hostel, with an amazing position in the city centre. I had the fortune to collaborate with a lot of amazing people. The host is really nice and friendly. Everything was good!

Una de las mejores experiencias que tuve! En cuanto al trabajo las tareas son sencillas y en ningun momento se hace pesado. Los turnos van rotando, lo que hace que no tengas una rutina y sea mas flexible. Pero lo mejor de todo es el ambiente que hay en el hostel, me encontré con gente increible y un staff que hacen que realmente disfrutes del voluntariado. Lo recomiendo 100%. Gracias!!

Je suis restée tout le mois d'août 2019. Le travail est facile. Le planning change chaque semaine et les horaires sont différents tous les jours. Les 5h/j 5/7 sont respectés. Je suis tombée avec des volontaires super sympa. Pour ma part le manager était Michele. Jeune italien de Palerme avec la main sur le cœur qui se fera un plaisir de vous aiguiller sur les activités touristiques de la ville et même de l'île. Niveau nourriture : la plupart du temps il y a de quoi manger à l'hostel.

I had a really great time here, the staff and other volunteers were fantastic. The atmosphere in the hostel was great and the work was easy. The manager Michele was great to work for, he was patient, professional and easy to get along with. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Chicos realmente fue la mejor experiencia de mi viaje! Amo Italia... Sicily pero lo que mas me gusto fue con la familia que me encontré cuando llegue al Hostel❤️. Aunque me vine con unos cuantos kilos de más por tanta pasta, pizza italiana ( el manager Michele es chef😍) fue lo mejor! Aprendí tantas cosas! Como ser una familia, trabajar en equipo, cocinar para el staff❤️ Palermo es hermoso! Tiene una magia increíble y el Hostel fue mucho más de lo que esperaba! Lo recomiendo a todos!
