Amazing & magical are the only words I can use to describe our stay with Monica & Mario! Wow 🥹 I wish we could have stayed longer, they made us feel like family, they gave us lots of independence & trusted us with the responsibility of cleaning their guest house & working in the host. On my birthday they surprised me with a cake and sung happy birthday, while we enjoyed a cold dip & sauna! On our days off we would go for a hike on skrova & a waffle at Monica's & Mario's the host. I HIGHLY recommend this experience! We're so grateful to have had the opportunity to work here! 💛 💜

Monica and Mario have been the best first volunteer experience I could have asked for!! 😊 They are super sweet, thoughtful, and flexible with the schedule. Skrova is beautiful and a different experience. It's calm and the hikes are absolutely beautiful. This has been an amazing experience and would love to come back and visit! ✨️

Este voluntariado fue uno de los mejores, Mario y Monica me hicieron sentir parte de la familia desde que llegué a Skrova y tambien los demas voluntarios que estaban en la casa. Las tareas son faciles, las horas son respetadas y son flexibles si necesitas algun dia libre para conocer un lugar nuevo. Trabajar en el restaurante fue super divertido y llegás a conocer mucho a los locales que son un amor. Recomiendo muchisimo este lugar en invierno si quieres ver auroras boreales y estar en contacto con la naturaleza rodeada de montañas nevadas. Sin dudas volveré en verano tambien :)

Monica and Mario are very kind, friendly and always helpful. The experience has met all the expectations and Monica and Mario respected everything they had written on their profile about the accommodation, the “job” and the island! We were also able to create a really good relationship as they are easy going and fun. I highly recommend!!!!!

This experience was fantastic! Mario and Monica are great hosts and have always respected all the agreements. The tasks are always different and acquiring new skills is a daily thing. You never get bored! Skrova is a wonderful island, it allows you to immerse yourself in nature and find contact with it again.

This was truely a once in a lifetime experience. From meeting locals in the host to late night aurora watching. This volunteering gig truely felt special. Would definitely recommend volunteering here for the full arctic circle experience.

Our time at Nøtnes and Heimbrygga was an absolute dream. Despite the challenges of little daylight in Nov/Dec, Mario and Monica made sure we were well cared for, from stocking us with food and vitamins to taking us sightseeing around the island. The work was varied but rewarding—housekeeping at Nøtnes was manageable, and the host shifts (waitering, table bussing, dishes, and cleaning) were long and late but completely worth it- Mario's food is incredible, and the diners are friendly locals. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!

The accommodation is an EXTREMELY dirty warehouse full of dust and it is VERY cold because some doors are broken and they don't close, they stay partially open. the outside air always comes in. some rooms have heathers so they're hot, mine was VERY cold and I had severe problems with these things. (the dust and the dirtiness and the cold). some windows are not well fixed so they can't close well and the air comes in from there too. I am a little allergic to dust and had breathing and skin problems.

We have received many volunteers during the last 2 years and it has been a fantastic experience... We did have a few exceptions, one of them is Alice.
We dont feel confortable to writte bad reviews publicaly, but keep in mind this is a very unstable person. If other hosts wants references can, contact us privately.

I had the best time volunteering here. I met many amazing people and Skrova is beautiful. I would 100% recommend to others. The schedule was extremely flexible which was great if you had plans or wanted to visit somewhere. The accommodation provided was ok for a month but I wouldn't want to live there for any longer. Overall, I had a great time, met amazing people and loved the Lofoten Islands.
