I started volunteering at the hostel after staying as a guest. the hostel is created to be a home away from home and the staff are a big reason the place feels like a home. I absolutely love this place and enjoyed every bit of working here. Like a normal job, the level of responsibilities depends on the person. My background is in event management and hospitality and Ben let me improve and change things within the events and the hostel. So grateful to have had the opportunity to develop myself workwise. Met so many (international) people and got much more comfortable with speaking English.

I had a great time. It was my first time volunteering and I really felt at home. the hostel is an amazing place to meet people, you get very close to the other volunteers, to the staff and to the guests. The job is nice, you learn how to do cocktails, how to handle a the hostel and to do social activities. I would recommend this hostel to who wants to meet and stay always in contact with new people, you need to be very social. Thanks to this experience you can improve your English and meet people from all over the world but also locals like the staff. It's a place where you want to go back

Had a great month volunteering at Cuckoos the hostel. The owner Ben has created a really cool hostel and it's very easy to why it's so popular with backpackers. It's an incredible opportunity that I'd recommend to most people. However, I'd suggest it's suitable for more social/outgoing people as you're expected to be interacting with guests everyday to help improve their experience at the hostel. I'd also say that this role is better suited to people who are relatively independent and don't need constant instruction/ guidance when it comes to the actual work itself.

The Cuckoos the hostel is a lovely social hostel. All the team are amazing and the accommodation provided is excellent. You are provided with a volunteers apartment which is the best I have seen for volunteer work. The work entails quite long hours working at the hostel and being social with guests. All in all super easy work. However I think there could be more incentives like a free evening meal for the amount of hours you do work. Ben the host is accommodating, and good fun to work for. I would recommend to those who are looking for a hostel in a beautiful area but like a night out in the town
