Don Nangloy is a beautiful & welcoming island. The locals are extremly friendly and the island has a lot to explore. We got the chance to swim with the kids in the Mekong and immerse English in the afternoon. The daily tasks are easy like watering plants or helping to take care of the kids from Phonephet. In our 7 days stay we were around 11 volunteers and depend on the days 2 to 14 guests. Sometimes it was quite crowded and not so much space for everyone. Also some volunteers had to change several times there sleeping place. The food was delicious and very sufficient.

It was a nice experience. In the morning I picked peanuts with some local people and in the afternoon I played with the children if they were there. The host did not participate with us in these activities. The food was ok but few options and no possibility to choose. I always felt welcomed by everyone. It is a nice way to live, especially if there are other volunteers on the same wavelength as you. The bathrooms are humble and the shower practically non-existent. There are some small shops on the island that sell drinks, packaged snacks. I recommend you bring toilet paper

We spent some wonderful days on the island of Don Nangloy. The place is very beautiful and relaxing, the facilities are very simple but welcoming. In the morning we went to a field to collect peanuts while in the afternoon we played with the children of the island, taught English or any other help was needed. The only flaw concerns the food, not very varied and not in Laotian style.

We had such a lovely week here. We felt truly welcomed into Phonephet's family for the week. The room was cosy, the food was great, and the guest house view every evening was incredible. The work itself was enriching. It was a challenge learning how to take care of Petunia the buffalo but it was such an exciting and unique experience. The local children are all so much fun to spend time with while helping them practise their English. the guest house and Emma especially have a very special place in my heart, it was so sad to say goodbye to them at the end of the week. I really recommend coming here!

A wonderful experience! Phonphet, the owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the family were all very nice. Only around 3 work hours per day, split between taking care of Petunia (the buffalo), watering the garden, teaching some English, and any other odd jobs that need doing - for example we helped Phonphet package up his freshly made tea product. The rest of the day can be spent chilling in a hammock, cycling round the island, or sometimes an organised trip to a nearby island or fishing. A great place to experience true Lao culture, highly recommended!

I stayed one week on the island. It's a really relaxing and chill place. I loved it! The work is not much and the food is really good. And u get in contact with locals, when the kids are comming u can play football with them, play uno, draw or go for a swim in the Mekong. I would definitely recommend this place when u are looking for a local experience or want to relax a bit!
