Volunteering at Tousuibo was an unforgettable and life-changing experience! I practiced Japanese daily and enjoyed amazing activities like kendo, wadaiko, tea ceremony, pottery, weaving, calligraphy, cooking, and more, often at little to no cost. Hiring-san is an incredible host who works tirelessly to connect volunteers with kind, welcoming locals and provide endless delicious, healthy meals. Work at the restaurant and garden was easy and fulfilling. Be open-minded, flexible, respectful, and learn some basic Japanese to make the most of this rare opportunity! Highly recommended.

My stay at Hiring-sans place has been amazing and I'd love to visit again in the future. Hiring-san is an incredible hard working woman who is super kind and takes effort to make ur stay one you'll never forget. She organizes so many activities so one can really immerse into the japanese culture. The local people I got to know during my stay were all so incredibly kind, it warmed my heart. The work is in the garden and the restaurant, which was always very simple and I enjoyed it. The accommodation is very beautiful, I really enjoyed the garden view. Would recommend and will come again!

I highly recommend this experience. Hiring-san & Susumu-san were the best hosts, always friendly, and patiently helping me practice my Japanese. Hiring-san cares about her volunteers, helping them integrate into Japanese culture and finding cultural classes. The classes allowed me to speak with many locals, and I had an amazing time. The work, split between the restaurant and gardening, was enjoyable and immersive. It was an unforgettable experience, and I'll truly miss everyone I met and their delicious meals

My stay was unforgettable thanks to the kindness of my hosts. Volunteers get private section with tatami rooms, a kotatsu, a kitchen, & a stunning garden view. The meals were delicious, and I loved working in the garden and restaurant. Hiringsan finds potential traditional experiences , & I did Kendo, Wadaiko, calligraphy, and tea ceremonies. The locals, especially my hosts, made the experience truly special. My only advice is to learn some Japanese to connect better with the locals, though everyone was incredibly kind. I'll cherish this experience forever. Thank you, Hiringsan and Susumusan!

Being in Kamigori has been a very valuable memory of my stay in Japon. I got to try Kendo, Wataiko, Shodo, Ikebana, pottery, learn about the tea ceremony and even being with my first kotatsu. The place is a traditional house with an amazing view. You may not have too much to do around the closest area but for me it was enough to even go to Kobe and Himeji in a short trip. I highly recommend if you want to experience all of the activities I mentioned before, you will never get bored ☺️

I been in this place for two weeks and it was amazing. The host hiring did more than ever expected to give as the volunteers as many local experiences as possible. The work is easy. She will ask you to take an order for the restaurant 3 day of the week and help with the garden 2 more days.

My time in Kamigori has been phenomenal. I have felt very welcome in this town, both through the work and the activities. For the activities Hiring-san has been extremely generous and put in a lot of time and effort for me to be able to experience the culture: kendo, taiko, calligraphy, saori, tea ceremonies. The work is easy, and although knowing Japanese will make life easier, my extremely limited japanese was more than enough to get by. I am very grateful for the time I got to spend here, and for all the people I got to know. I feel like my time here has truly enriched my life

This was definitely one of the best and most unique volunteer i did so far. You get a deep dive into traditional cultures. You join classes every week. I even had the opportunity to play a little wadaiko concert with our group in front of some villagers. So you will get quite busy with you're experience there, but you will really get a lot out of this. Hiring-san brought me to all the classes and tried to give me a great experience. During my time i worked 2 days a week in the restaurant. On the other 3 days i had the opportunity to create two murals in the amazing garden of the restaurant.

I had a great time at Hiring-San's place! The work was easy, I did weeding twice a week for a few hours and then worked in her restaurant over the weekend. It was such a unique opportunity to meet local people and experience Japanese culture. I got to take Kendo classes and go to a tea ceremony which were super fun. I would definitely recommend staying with Hiring-San, the town she lives in is really nice and the activities she takes you to are great. Thank you! :)
