The host is a travel through time and a beautiful experience immersed in the thicket of french hills. Generosity and kindness is something that you will find everyday here. Collaboration can be in multiples ways and I don't want to forget what the stone taught me about working with time and patience. The strengh that have the dreams when you work hard and with passion for it is something that you can see here too, and that was inspiring for me. Thank you so much one more time Sam, Donald, Suzy, Mark, I will treasure this experience forever.

It's hard to understate the sheer ambition required to build a Gothic edifice from the ground up. It's not something that people really do anymore, but they're doing it anyway. *We, I should say. We're doing it anyway. It was an incredible privilege to join the host team, if only for 3 short weeks. Sam & co were so warm and welcoming, thrilled to host volunteers and share their vision. You could feel the energy and excitement rising, not just onsite, but with every interview request, every local who's come to contribute another €20 to tour the work in progress. Truly inspiring.

The host is a nice place to go in order to practise lenguages and knowing new good people. They threatened me very well and the food was delicious. The job was hard but you have free weekends. You can adapt yourself to work hard and improve your knowledge in many things. I am a city girl but I am very glad to had lived this fantastic experience and I recomend it a lot.

My son and I spent two weeks at the host. It rained cats and dogs sometimes, we get used to some mud and discovered sore muscles that we didn't know we had… but we wished we could have stayed longer. The growing gothic edifice, being as impressive as it is, is dwarfed by the unlikely, inspiring and welcoming group of people formed by Don, Sam and the British residents and regular volunteers, Jim and Mark, plus the extra visit of ever smiling Sam's sister. We loved the work and learned a lot, but if you finally go you will soon learn that the best is the flesh and blood behind the stone.

Sam and Donald are very welcoming and make sure their volunteers are cosy and enjoying themselves. Their project would seem wildly unrealistic if not impossible - except it's really happening. I loved being out in nature, working with my hands, discussing history for hours, learning skills such as stone masonry and stone carving. I loved to contribute, however humbly, to a building designed to last centuries. Now I know there's a place for me to come back to when I need to get away from the city, a place where to deeply rest while creating something beautiful.

Para decidir hacer este viaje tienes que dejara atrás cualquier tipo de limpieza atras ya que :las habitaciones donde se supone que te alojaras estan en unas condiciones lamentables son colchones sucios en el suelo manchados y apestan. Por otra parte la cantina que es donde se cocina y se come no es sucio es insalubre . Si decides irte ten en cuenta esto y que para dormir en las habitaciones pasaras mucho mucho frío y solo hay 2 radiadores para 4 habitaciones. Por lo que a mi respecta esta experiencia es para las personas a las que no les importe dormir en el suelo y no muy limpio.

Sorry the facilities were not up to the hotel standard you expected, but having had 53 volunteers this year from many countries, you are the first person to have found our standards below par. Good luck with your future volunteering. I would suggest you talk to your host if you have problems.

Malheureusement nous sommes resté seulement 3 jours car nous pensions que l'emplacement était dans un village de 2000 habitants mais finalement c'est une place très reculé d'environ 3-4 maisons. Ce n'est pas ce que nous recherchions. Sam et Mark étaient très gentils et compréhensibles. Martin un autre volontaire qui était là aussi était sympathique. Expérience sympa pour ceux qui veulent quelque chose d'unique et très rurale, beau projet!

Changemoi is way out in the countryside in Morvan. It is so quiet, all you hear at times is the squeeling of the neighbours donkey. But at the host the energy is high, due to the commitment of the three main persons Sam, Mark and Jim to their extrordinary project. And this energy is so inspiring to the voluteer, that you learn to live with the anger all the times the mortar falls out of the little holes in the cieling you try to squeese it into. Thank you Mark for a lovely goodbuy party at your home.
