My days in the hostel were wonderful, I really feel at home here, the work is organized and easy, Richard is a great host and will make you feel at home with his joy and friendliness, you also have the option of volunteering at other hostels in the same network, which is great for seeing more places in Scotland. The city is charming, has several supermarkets, restaurants and bars very close to the Hostel. Recommend 100%💟

The hostel was my first volunteer experience and I loved it! There's plenty of time to explore the isles and the cute town, where you can see the ocean wherever you walk. The staff is great and you can tell the managers truly care about their staff and them having a good time while they are there! I would for sure come back and recommend this to anyone looking for a social hostel to volunteer at!

Volunteering at the hostel was my first experience as a Worldpacker so I wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't have to worry though, because Kamila and the other volunteers made me feel welcome straightaway! The work was satisfying but not difficult, and the shifts were rotated so you weren't doing the same thing all the time. There was plenty of free time to go exploring in town and around, or hang out in the cozy common room in the hostel. the hostel is a great base for seeing the Argyll coast and some of the western islands, and the town is gorgeous - definitely apply!

I really spend a good time here, Camila, the manager was super flexible, she helped to me with anything I needed. The team was very kind and helpful. Is a perfect place for to visit the islands, beautiful for walkings on the beach.

My 1st volunteering was simply amazing, I was very well received by Kamila, she is a lovely person, super flexible, lively, always willing to help, treats everyone very well, to the point that we feel part of a big family, whether guest or staff. the hostel team is wonderful, everyone is very patient, I arrived with very basic English and everyone helped me with my English. I really just have to thank you, the place is magical, there is a lot to know and do there, the people are welcoming, and the city is very beautiful. from the hostel family. Working at the the hostel was an amazing way to meet tons of new people every day and explore the beautiful Scottish coast. I think this is my favorite place I have worked so far.

Our visit here was a bit frustrating. First, the volunteer accommodation is much lower quality than anything pictured here. Also, there were multiple times when two people were expected to clean the entire hostel (beds, toilets, showers, etc.) in 3 hours, which is a 4 person job. Finally, the manager while we were there did not contribute to daily tasks and could be deceptive and condescending. the hostel was beautiful, and the hostel was nice enough (but could use better volunteer accommodation), but it would be a much better experience with a new manager.

I would not recommend my experience here. The work environment here was very unhealthy. There was little training/none at all for some shifts, but the current manager expects you to do things a very specific way with little to no guidance & then was upset when it isn't done that way.It was very understaffed when we were there, and heard this was common. We were doing more tasks than what was meant for the amount of people volunteering. The staff room is not the rooms pictured here, it actually quite smaller and crammed. The place has potential but due to the manager our experience was not good
