Beautiful hostel and garden. However, volunteer "room" is just a storage room without windows, air and ventilation, making it quite unbearable. I enjoyed making breakfast with Maria-Rene (who is very lovely), however the rest of the duties were very unclear and communication with Bert proved challenging. There was also no agreement on days off; if you don't tell Bert you want a day off, he will assign tasks for you every single day, even though you are staying there for 3 weeks. Beautiful place, that needs quite a bit of improvement for it to be a better experience for any future volunteers

We can't recommend Aniek totally to be honest, she's young and focused (a bit too much) on herself and didn't always complete her tasks. She is spontaneous and likes to laugh, but can act a bit more responsible.

I had a great time at the hostel! Bert and his wife Maria are very lovely. The hostel is very nice with a homey feel in a beautiful area. The main task is preparing the breakfast, were you take turns with one other volunteer. Other then that the tasks are just helping around the hostel a bit, answering questions from guest and helping with check ins. In exchange you get free accommodation, breakfast and a shelf full of food to make some lunch and dinner. If you want to relax at a beautiful hostel, enjoy the town and go on hikes around Samaipata I would definitely recommend the hostel.

The Hostal the hostel is a place, which is built up whith heart and soul of Bert. The garden is rich in plants and the building is decorated with many pictures, is comfy and welcoming. The main tasks as a Volonteer are helping to prepare the breakfast in the morning, to check in new guests and help them, if they have questions. A regular schedule of shifts don't exist, so it is important to communicate with Bert. He is an open person, which communicates in a good way and always find a solution. His wife Maria-René practiced spanish with me, and their kids are very polite and friendly.

La voy a recordar como una de las mejores experiencia de mi vida. el hostal es una casa, Samaipata tiene una energía especial y esa energía se amplifica en hostal. El lugar, es perfecto para compartir espacio experiencias con los otros viajeros.. La noche se crea una energía especial. El dueño del hostal es muy amable, las tareas son muy sencillas, solo hace falta tener un poco de sentido comun y ganas de hacer que los huéspedes se sientan bien. Súper recomendable. Had a great experience at the hostel. The place and it's view are magical, perfect for a bit of relaxation in between your travels whilst continuing to meet many other travelers on their way through. Samaipata itself is also great, a surprising amount of things to do given its small size.

Disfruté mucho mi experiencia haciendo mi primer voluntariado en el hostal, Bert es una persona muy amable y paciente para explicarte las tareas y cómo llevarlas a cabo, su familia es súper acogedora te hacen sentir bienvenido. Tuve la oportunidad de practicar mi inglés y pasar mucho tiempo en la naturaleza, pero también conociendo Samaipata de una manera local. Sin duda un lugar al que mi corazón siempre querrá regresar!

El hostel es un lugar mágico, hermoso, tranquilo, lleno de buena vibra e historias. Conocí muchos viajeros de todo el mundo y aprendí muchas cosas buenas. Bert tiene una hermosa familia con buenos valores, mantienen un lugar limpio y agradable para todos. Recomiendo este voluntariado para tener una experiencia de vida distinta y nueva.

My experience wasn't the best here. There are not structured schedules, there are just two volunteers which make breakfast and are supposed to take turns to be around the whole day unless one of them has a tour or something important to do. Tasks are pretty easy but the fact of not be free and be always available for whatever guests need is not nice. I felt like my time was not respected. I had to ask for some time off, the host probably didn't mind if I didn't ask. The work I I did was by far way beyond the 25 hours, been around and available is also working.

Jimena was'nt really a succes. It seemed difficult for her to deal with a daily schedule and she's not really used to a little bit of authority. To be grateful is a quality which not everybody has.
With two volunteers around it was not easy for her to do her daily tasks. Nevertheless we do wish her all the best.
