Komae House
I am looking for helpers who can stay minimum one month to 2-3 months to maintain apartments` shared bath/toilets, kitchens, corridors, parking lots and outside trash areas to exchange with accommodation. Helpers can work 2 hours a day, 5 days a week and share room with a same gender. I supply rice and pasta.
My name is Kazumi Ogawa, 72 years old male, lived and worked in Los Angeles for 40 years, came back to Tokyo 8 years ago. I am a member of the intercultural committee in the city of Komae, Tokyo, letting many young foreigners to live like ordinary Japanese. The city of Komae is a quiet suburb of big Tokyo metropolitan, 30 min. from Shinjuku, Shibuya and 40 min. from the Tokyo JR Station.

My experience at Komae House in Tokyo was very positive. The rooms and common areas are comfortable and well organized, making it a nice place to live. Even though it is a bit far from the city center, the area is quiet and well connected. The working hours are short and not too demanding, which allows you to enjoy your time in Tokyo. Overall, it was a really good and enriching experience. Thank you all, hope to see you soon!

I had an incredible time in Komae. Kaz was very communicative and Andrew and Valentine were both great managers. They explained what I needed to do, were easy to talk to and made me feel welcome. Komae is great, it’s close to the city and it’s very cozy. I would definitely recommend this and I would come back here again.

This is my favourite volunteering experience so far, the room is cozy and the bed is comfortable, the work is pretty easy and the host can adapt to your plans so you can travel around. This place really made me feel like I was home, you work, explore around, do your groceries like a local.
I made so many good friends I am already planning to meet again.I stayed there two months and I wish I stayed longer, don’t hesitate book the trip ! :)

If you are looking for flexibility and a lot of free time for your trip, this is your place! Komae it’s a lovely quiet small community, very calm and friendly, I personally liked it a lot. Kaz made frequently pizza party’s for us, very fun.

I am so thankful for this experience. I had the opportunity to meet a lot of travelers and to visit Tokyo everyday. Komae house is such a nice community, every 2 weeks you will be invited to a pizza karaoke party where you will have the chance to meet everyone, japanese local people and make new friends! The shared room (double) in the AB building is cozy and warm in winter. The kitchen is well equipped and there are 3 big shared bathrooms. Kaz was incredibly kind in my journey before coming to Japan; it was my firs time travelling so far, and I had tons of questions. Thank you so much!
