L'Expérience

Volunteer position specifically for an experienced rider in a small french stable. Your role as an animal caretaker focused on horse training, will mainly be riding horses of all types. I need a rider with the equivalent of Galop 7, English riding style, and preferably dressage experience. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY TO THE POSITION IF YOU ARE NOT AN EXPERIENCED RIDER Daily barn routine and cooking/cleaning a the house will be asked.

The shelter and Cyril were really nice and welcoming. We could ride almost everyday both in the forest and in the arena. We had a daily routine including feeding all animals, riding, vacuuming the house and we took turns making dinner. They often had friends over and did fun stuff, like we went to a small concert with her one night. The village was very cozy and the bakeries were amazing. They had bikes that we could use and it was easy to take the bus on a day off to explore.

I had such a great and cozy stay with the shelter! The work was mostly physical, just like it was described, but honestly really satisfying. the shelter and Cyril were always around to explain how things should be done, and they were super helpful if I had any questions. The schedule was flexible, which made it easy to adapt to the weather or personal plans. There's a ton to explore in the area — castles, cute old towns, and plenty of spots to swim or just chill in nature. If you're into animals, love being outside, and don't mind some physical work, I'd totally recommend this experience!

I had a great time living with the shelter and family. There was always delicious homemade yogurt in the fridge and the house was nice and cozy. Me and the other volunteers worked the 5 hours a day, and when we worked was very flexible. You could sleep in and start later, or the other way around which was nice. It's definitely hard work and it gets very hot in the summer, but the house is nice and cool. And there is lots to do in the surrounding cities on your days off. All in all i had a great time and would definitely recommend if you want to experience french countryside and work outside ☺️

It was an amazing experience, I highly recommend it! the shelter welcomed us like part of the family right from the start, and the place felt like home the time I spent there. She really cared about our well-being, and I truly enjoyed my time there. The work was mostly physical, but we could always relax and go for a swim. Communication was always open, and everything could be discussed easily! Overall it was an amazing experience!

I had the most incredible time staying and working with the shelter! She is a kind and caring host that makes sure you feel comfortable, welcome, and at home. She is hardworking and organized and I thoroughly enjoyed all the tasks I did on the farm. She is generous and fun and I had the best time getting to know her and her friends. What a beautiful town and area, with even more beautiful animals and people! I would highly recommend this experience if you love being in nature and living a happy, simple life. The work it is hard at times but totally worth it !
