Toquilla was described as a place with "rugged beauty" and I couldn't agree more. The cabaña overlooks stunning views and the community there treated me with great warmth and hospitality. The animals were wonderful to be around, and I was thoroughly trained to groom, ride and take care of the horses. The place was clean and cozy despite it getting cold at night. Diego and the volunteers always made me feel at home there and it was an honour getting to meet others and form life lasting bonds. I recommend this experience for anyone looking to experience rural Colombia life with horses

I had a wonderful experience at the region of Toquilla in the province of Boyacá at the cabaña de Don Diego. Kind neighbours, rural setting, fresh eggs and milk to have every day, had the opportunity to ride gorgeous horses often, explore the region, etc. The host is respectful and understanding, provides a comfortable environment to live in, makes your stay worthwhile. This is a great experience that I recommend to any traveller.

I spent almost three weeks in Toquilla and enjoyed it! My duties were mainly related to the animals (feeding, taking care, training) and the house (painting, organizing, cleaning). I spent a lot of time outside with the horses, the dogs, the cats, and the very loyal sheep. The animals are all very sweet. I enjoyed the opportunity to da lot of horseback riding. During my stay we also visited some of Diego's family members on the nearby Fincas which gave me a deeper insight in the life and culture in Boyacá and I appreciated a lot. For my stay I paid a financial contribution.

I didn't have any experience with horses beforehand, but it was easy to quickly learn a lot! After the first few days I was able to go riding on my own and explore the nature. I paid a contribution per day for food for the animals and I got a lot of cool experiences in return. It is also a very nice place to relax, quiet and surrounded by nature. Diego and Gina always made me feel welcome :)

The farm is the perfect place if you're looking for the authentic rural experience. The farm is surrounded by beautiful green mountains that you can ride through with a horse. The dogs, cats and horses are all beautiful animals that are social. The tasks are very fun and enjoyable to do, feeding the animals, cleaning around the cabin and learning how to properly saddle horses. I learned so much during my time there and the host Diego is both kind, understanding and respectful. My only issues with this place is how cold it is inside and far from grocery stores (which is understandable).

It's a nice place in the mountains. We could spend a lot of our time with the horses in nature. I wasn't that experience and hoped to learn about horseback riding and taking care of the horses like agrrleed with Diego, I got a bit disappointed. After permantly insisting he took some hours to show me some stuff after the middle of my stay. I would have appreciated it if the instructions and teaching would be at the beginning and a bit more. Work instructions weren't always clear. On the webside he isn't asking for a contribution but after in the chats he asked for money for the stay.

It was an interesting experince that allows me to learn more about horses, even if I was a beginner. I also discovered the beautiful region of Boyaca and Paramo's landscapes. The place is isolated from the small village of Toquilla, I enjoyed the peace and welcoming people. Most of my tasks were about feeding animals/horses and few stuffs aroud the house and the finca. It was not difficult. No tourists were there during my say, maybe it can impact the type of task you can have. I stayed alone with Diego, you can easily talk and share a lot with him, I practised a lot my Spanish
