Redefining Volunteering & Exchange Program
If someone expects free food and accommodation in return for an act of kindness, can it still be considered volunteering? Or does this arrangement align more closely with the principles of an exchange program?
Volunteering typically involves offering time, skills, or effort without expectation of compensation, driven by altruism and a desire to make a difference. However, if someone expects tangible benefits—like food and lodging—in return for their service, it leans toward a structured exchange rather than pure volunteerism.
An exchange program, on the other hand, operates on reciprocity—where participants contribute in some way and receive something in return, often fostering learning, cultural immersion, or skill-building. The key difference is the explicit agreement of mutual benefit

Choose the right option
For those who choose for volunteering will be paying for food and accommodation + engaging the local community for work and the material required for the training program.
Those who are opting for Work Exchange program. They have to do a development project at the RHM Center or at the Anganwadi (kindergarten) in any one of the areas (water & energy conservation, tiny home designing, activity creation, development of creative center, medicinal plantation, fruit tree plantation, space utilization techniques, natural building construction, fundraising)

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Participants actively engage with local communities and contribute meaningfully to the place they call home during their stay. Your responsibilities will include:
- Addressing Unemployment: Support livelihood creation through tourism-linked micro-initiatives and skill-sharing.
- Skill Development: Facilitate workshops, mentor youth, and co-create learning experiences that build capacity.
- Fundraising & Resource Mobilization: Assist in ethical fundraising to promote entrepreneurship through research-based education that can lead to income generation. This is done through offering fellowships and technical support.
- Community & Impact Engagement: We are currently doing the renovation and facility upgrade of a government run kindergarten (Anganwadi) near our RHM Center. The mission is to enhance the creativity and inculcate civic sense at an early age.
- Sustainable Development- Development of Natural Building using natural plasters. Energy and water conservation, tiny home development etc.
- Marketing & Outreach: Help amplify our message through social media, content creation, and outreach campaigns.
- Continuous Improvement: Reflect, adapt, and contribute ideas to enhance the program’s regenerative impact.
