L'Expérience

We are a family living in the beautiful village of Herand in the middle of Hardanger. We live close to the fjord and have an accounting firm and a software company that we live off of + some rental of beds in the summer. We have a small greenhouse and a small farm where we have some vegetables. Summer is a busy time and we need 2-3 positive people to help us with different work.

I had a wonderful time in Herand. I would highly recommend Christian and Bjørg as very responsible and kind hosts. During my free time, I enjoyed swimming, kayaking, hiking, and cycling to nearby places. I also started knitting, with Bjørg's kind help and encouragement. After the delicious dinners that Bjørg prepared, it was a real pleasure to spend time talking with the hosts and learning new things about Norway.

I really enjoyed my stay. The working hours were very fair and always respected as agreed beforehand. For me, it was a great mix between preparing apartments for new guests and doing some gardening. Herand is a very nice and charming little village. Christian and Bjørg are wonderful hosts – friendly, openminded, and fair. Every evening they prepared a very tasty dinner, which we all enjoyed together. All in all, it was a wonderful experience that I'm really grateful for.

Great experience in Herand, Norway! We spent a few weeks there and the family was incredibly kind and welcoming, just as described. The work was light and enjoyable: mornings doing simple tasks like cleaning, afternoons helping in the garden and with farm work — a fun way to try new things. Herand is breathtaking, with fjords, mountains, waterfalls, and endless hiking trails. We highly recommend this peaceful place with delicious food, lovely hosts, and beautiful moments in nature. Perfect to slow down and connect. Thanks for everything — we'll never forget it, truly magical and special!

Hemos estado cuatro semanas en este encantador lugar remoto que te permite desconectar, valorar las pequeñas cosas y conectar muchísimo con la naturaleza. He vivido esta experiencia con una buena amiga y no podría haber sido mejor, recordaremos Herand para siempre. Las horas de trabajo se respetan siempre y suelen ser tareas fáciles y variadas, sobre todo las de la tarde (ayuda con el huerto, limpiar apartamentos, recoger malas hierbas, etc) Aburrirse no es una opción! Las cenas con la familia han sido encantadoras y nos han acercado a la cultura local! Alba y yo os animamos a vivirlo!

We had the pleasure of hosting Ona as a Worldpackers volunteer in July, and it was a truly positive experience. She contributed with great energy, took responsibility, and was always helpful, friendly, and full of initiative.

I had the best time of my life in herand. The village is the most beautiful thing, with the typical houses, apple gardens, the mountains around making the fjords, the sea... You will fall in love for sure. The hosts are super welcoming and caring. They are always concerned about your needs, and made me feel like part of the family.
