My experience was absolutely amazing. I really felt like home here. The staff is nice and friendly, Cat is a great manager and you can meet volunteers from all over the world. The work is not too difficult and you have a lot of free time to explore Den Haag. I would definitely recommend volunteering here.

A great experience! Cathy is a lovely person, you'll feel in home in a few days. The tasks are okey and there is a good teamwork. All the hostels workers are so friendly. The city is so beautiful. The perfect place for a first experience. Thank you guys!

My first volunteering experience couldn't have been any better. I got to stay at Will&the hostel for a couple of months, and in that time it really felt like a true home. The work is really easy and fun and with the hours you work, you can also balance it well with free time. Never be afraid to ask for help of the others, the sense of teamwork here is amazing. I would like to thank Cathy, Niek, the rest of the staff members and the amazing volunteers I got to meet during my time here for being so warm, openminded and supportive. This place truly has a special place in my heart!

4 weeks at Will&the hostel is not enough time! The place is cozy, clean and vibrant, but the people are what make it a great place where you want to stay. Cat is an incredible manager, always kind and smiley who welcomes you with open arms. There are a lot of volunteers, which come from all over the world, which makes it an amazing experience to hear some great stories. The work itself is easy and the tasks are straightforward (and communication from manager to team is really good). I would recommend this to everyone who want to meet great people and slow down for a bit.

I absolutely loved to be a volunteer at Will & the hostel and enjoyed a lot my time there!! Everyone is so friendly and helpful, working hours are respected and the tasks are easy, the common areas and bar are very cosy and coffee here is so good!! Also the location is perfect and you can meet both locals and internationals and make lots of friends! I had an amazing time with the other volunteers and the manager is very understanding and kind, thank you!! <3

This was not a cultural exchange but a strict housekeeping job. Tasks were intense, and the environment was cold, intimidating, and fear-driven. Many volunteers felt anxious and couldn't speak up. The managers behavior was harsh, and most of the real work was done by scared, unpaid volunteers. I left early due to emotional stress. If you're looking for a warm, flexible experience — please reconsider. This deeply affected me and others in my group. While I understand they have many positive reviews, I believe that fear and pressure may play a big part in that, not everyone feels safe to speak

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you experienced your time with us this way. Our work-and-stay program is indeed meant as an exchange: accommodation in return for helping out in the hostel. This also means we have certain expectations regarding commitment and quality of work, as we are still a hostel/hotel where tasks need to be carried out to a high standard.
To be honest, this is the first time in three years that we’ve encountered such a situation.

J'ai passé un super séjour aux Pays-Bas, l'entente entre les bénévoles était chouette. La charge et les horaires de travail correspondent à ce qui est indiqué sur l'annonce. L'auberge est propre et très bien aménagée, proche des transports et idéalement placée. Den Haag permet de visiter de nombreuses villes alentours. Merci, pour cette super expérience <3

Amazing time spend at Will & the hostel ! I wish I could have spend more time there Everyone is so nice, welcoming and helping you spending good time there :) I recommended 100% this experience, it's the perfect spot for having fun, meet people from all over the world and travel around Netherlands.

To all future volunteers, if you get a chance to stay at this place, take it! I had the opportunity to volunteer at Will & the hostel for about a month. As soon as I entered the hostel I felt the family-like atmosphere! Cathy is really the absolute best manager, coach and mentor possible! On the official training day you get taught how to do the housekeeping and cleaning tasks. The work is really not that hard and easy to learn. You have a lot of free time to explore den Haag and you will definitely make some new friends here. Thank you so much for this incredible stay, until the next time!
