I truly loved my time at The Balance Base.
It’s located in a gorgeous place with surroundings that make you never want to leave. The atmosphere is very social, warm, and welcoming .It really feels like a home away from home. I met amazing people and felt comfortable from the very first day. I totally recommend this host and would come back anytime 💛

The Balance Base is a great place to volunteer and feels like a second home. You can meet locals and travelers through various activities in a very welcoming atmosphere. The people you meet can become wonderful friends and you can create unforgettable memories. The tasks are simple and don’t take much time, so you can explore Wanaka, its surroundings or simply enjoy the amazing view of the lake during your free time.
Max is welcoming, funny, friendly and helpful. If you need advice for your trip, he’s the person to ask. Thank you MAAAAAXXX!

I accidentally missed the deadline to leave Indiana a review so I will put it here instead:

Indiana, or Didi, was a great volunteer who spent a few weeks with us. She did all her tasks as expected with very little management. She was also a very friendly vibe to have in the house and got along well with all our guests.

Would highly recommend her to any project.

Max was the best host I could have asked for for my first Worldpackers experience! He was incredibly kind and made me feel at home even while being in a culture so different from my own. The hostel is amazing, the tasks were very fair, and Max was always concerned about the volunteers’ well-being. I would come back to this volunteer experience a thousand times if I could! Thank you for everything, Max! 😊

Life here was truly wonderful. The living environment was warm and comfortable, and the location couldn’t be better. Everyone was lovely. We sometimes went grocery shopping together, shared food, and played pickleball almost every week. Connecting with people was definitely the best part of the work exchange experience here!
Max is cheerful and supportive. The work was simple, and he gave us full freedom to organise our tasks. He also gave me very practical advice on buying a car and even helped me with a test drive, which I really appreciated.
I’ll definitely miss the time I spent here :)

What a place: The views on the lake and the mountains, the lovely people who I felt connected with instantly and the amazing energie in the whole area. The Balance Base in Wanaka truly felt like a home away from home. Already missing my breakfast spot on the deck, stargazing in the hottub, cold plunges in the lake and all the laughs and good conversations with the roomies. Max is super chill and so are the tasks around the house. If you like to be out in nature and grab coffees in a cute little town with the best vibe ever: this is your spot! Would definitely recommend ✨🏞️🩵
