T5 has been one of the best experiences in my life, I stayed an extra week and cried when I had to (unfortunately) leave. The city is amazing, the locals are friendly and the staff very welcoming and accommodating. Hours were agreed upon before going and was respected 100%. If you’re new to volunteering this is an amazing introduction as it’s very well coordinated. If you’re used to volunteering, well, just go! You won’t regret it.

This was my fourth time at T5 and as always, it was incredible. The work is fair, with hours being respected and a chill vibe on shift. the team are lovely and feel more like a family than work colleagues. If you are looking to volunteer in Romania 100% come and experience T5!

There’s no place like T5. Near the end of my stay, a community member described it to me as like a kind of secular ‘church’ for many of the people it matters to; I think the ‘third place’ concept applies heavily. It was my first time volunteering in a hostel and I got sick during my stay, so I worry that I personally wasn’t the 100% volunteer I was hoping I’d be, but everyone was nonetheless flexible and kind while I was there—I felt like my well-being was genuinely prioritized. Thank you all (but especially Mici the cat)
