SoylMansion

A traveler seeking a spiritual journey in the midst of untouched nature will find this place in Sid’s opinion.
A traveler wanting to challenge fears, step out of comfort zones, and explore their own psychological conditioning will find it in Vishakha’s view.
And for those who long to experience authentic village life in a riverside Himalayan hamlet—a place with fewer than 1,000 residents that remained unconnected by road until 2024—our local team believes this is the place to be.
SoylMansion is a riverside cottage nestled in the pristine village of Soyal, near Manali. Built by Sid, a lawyer from New Delhi who left behind city life to follow his mountain dream, it is now home to him and his wife Vishakha, a PhD in Gender Studies, who joined him in this Himalayan journey.
Soyal is a village with a unique history—once part of the Hippie trail, it still holds many abandoned homes from the 1960s and 70s. SoylMansion and its team are lovingly restoring these old hippie houses, keeping their artistic charm and elegance alive.
We also cultivate apples, plums, apricots, herbs, vegetables, and wild berries, bringing farming into harmony with the way we live. Today, SoylMansion serves as a guest house, hosting travelers from across the world through retreats, eco-tourism, and immersive farm-to-fork experiences.
Volunteers stay at Casa Rio, a riverside hippie house from the 1970s that once belonged to Nile, an Irish traveler who made this valley his home.
Volunteering here means becoming part of our daily rhythm. Tasks are shared based on priority, weather, and individual skills, ranging from helping run the project to assisting in farming, hospitality, or creative restoration work.

Sid and Vishakha personally run SoylMansion, supported by a small team of local staff from the village. Our team is made up of young Himachali men and women in their early twenties, who come in the mornings and return home to their families in the evenings. They are warm, well-mannered, and deeply rooted in the culture of this valley. We ask our volunteers to treat both the staff and villagers with respect and openness—in return, you’ll find them incredibly friendly and welcoming. At SoylMansion, volunteers are not treated as outsiders but as teammates. There is no hierarchy here—everyone’s opinions, ideas, and inputs are valued equally. We encourage open communication and collaboration, believing that the best experiences are created together.

Namaskar, "Konnichiwa" Soylmansion is the dream of those who love nature, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, pine trees, and a crystal-clear river. Siddharth and his wife Vishakha, along with Maya (Mero Didi), are excellent hosts. They prepared delicious local meals and desserts for us, and gave us the opportunity to use the sauna and swim in the river. It was incredible. We also had a house all to ourselves. Peace, comfort, and a family atmosphere. One of those places where you want to stay forever. Words can't describe it; it's eternally beautiful. Nice to meet you धन्यवाद

Soyl Mansion is located in a beautiful village with greatful people. It's possible to share and know about a different kind of food and enjoy the local culture!
It's important know that cleaning is one of the most common task and don't apear in the profile. And could be better to do agreements about the times with Sidarth and his partner for a healthy time for everybody.
I am very grateful to Sidarth for everything he shared so generously 😊

Hi Yina thanks for your feedback cleaning and organising is mandatory for all volunteers that has been sent to you in your chat when you apply to us you can check that :)
The maximum work we gave you was for two hours in a day. Besides that parties, dancing and riverside experiences village walks and hikes and picnic in meadows, sharing best meals have been part of your time as far as we remember. Nevertheless we are still in gratitude for your time here . Happy journey ahead 😇

Soyl Mansion embraced me with warmth and openness, as Sid and Vishakha carry a calm, creative energy that draws you in to connect with the flow of life at Soyl. I spent my time in the kitchen with the wonderful Auntie, Ankush, Sunita, and Bhavna. What started as simple tasks turned into moments of spontaneous conversation, shared joy, and a lot of dancing while making out-of-this-world dishes from Auntie’s magnifique recipes! I also had a chance to meet Uncle, who's kind and welcoming. Soyl isn’t just a place—it’s a feeling. I’m deeply grateful for the time I spent there. Until next time.

My time at Soyl was so much more than just volunteering, it was an all-encompassing, soul-nourishing experience. I was welcomed and guided by Sid and Vishakha, two wild and beautiful souls with so much to share. I got to embrace the Pahari way of living by following the gentle lead of Sunita, Bhavna, and Ankush. The most delicious food came from their hands, and helping out in the kitchen, their turf, became an adventure of its own. I also got to hang out with Harshit and Sid’s family, who were incredibly kind and fun to be around. I’m looking forward to a future where our paths cross again!
