Skogsro Forest Hostel & and international nature basecamp

Our Hostel has a different concept, situated in the forested Lakelands of the southern foothills of Skrim highlands, in the centre of Vestfold-Telemark province, an epicentre of Nordic cultural heritage, and a hub for hiking trails and international NGOs.

We balance the tradition of an 80 years old winter resort/summer camp site, with modern functionality in an international context, aiming to give our visitors the feeling of being at the very edge of the forest, while enjoying the traditional Norwegian 'kos' (cozyness) of warm blankets, hot beverage, and flickering bonfire under the northern starsky.

Connected to both nature and the European hostel-vibe, rather than pub-crawls and city tours we offer hikes, expeditions and don't be surprised if you're welcomed to seasonal workshops, artistic and music events

The international multi-lingual staff has years of experience managing international exchange projects and summer camps, workshops and events, and gladly host and facilitate.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Skogsro. Jørgen and Anni were fantastic, they were both very welcoming and supportive, and we immediately felt included in the beautiful community they have built. We met so many cool, interesting people during our stay, and got to take part in a variety of activities. We would highly recommend Skogsro Hostel to any volunteers travelling through Norway, and we are very much looking forward to spending more time there in the future!

my friend and I volunteered at skogsro forest hostel for 3 weeks and honestly was one of the most wholesome three weeks. Both the hosts Anika and Jorgen were the best and they are so so nice and chill. All the people that were also volunteering there were great people. Highly recommend here for other volunteers :)

“Jorgen and Annika were such lovely and welcoming hosts. They genuinely care for their volunteers and make sure you feel comfortable. It was a great experience to gain insight into the work that goes into running the hostel while also meeting other like-minded people.
