Pacuare beach

Our main mission is to protect endangered sea turtles such as the Leatherback sea turtle, Hawksbill sea turtle and the Green sea turtle. With the support of the local community and of the the international volunteers, we aim at conserving the environment.
Our work team is made up of people committed to the conservation of the environment.
Thanks to the work carried out with our organization on Pacuare beach as on other 5 beaches, each year we manage to release more than 100,000 baby turtles of different species into the sea.
If you join our team you can be part of this unforgettable experience, you will know a wonderful place surrounded by nature and the sea, we also offer you the opportunity to learn about our programs even on the Pacific coast
Sea turtles season in our Caribbean coast from February to September
In our Pacific coast from June to January

By working with sea turtles, locals and environmental education programs, we will be able to educate people on the importance of caring about and protecting the valuable maritime ecosystem. Our work team is made up of people committed to the conservation of the environment. Robi Barrios is the biologist in charge of the mission, with extensive experience and knowledge on the subject of environmental conservation, you will learn a lot about the animals that live in this beautiful place and all the nature that surrounds us. Magdalena is our assistant, a girl from the Czech Republic, who has fallen in love with our beautiful Pacuare and helps us with enthusiasm and a lot of love for nature. She is kind and helpful to whoever needs it. Don Jorge is the person in charge of the kitchen. He is also a community leader committed to the conservation of the environment, always willing to please our volunteers with his typical Costa Rican dishes. Caleb is in charge of the maintenance of the camp, a kind person, like the others he is a lover of environmental conservation, in him you will find an attentive and helpful person

I had a wonderful experience in Pacuare. It's a very remote place from the city, but you can enjoy the camp and do activities with the other volunteers. The staff was very welcoming. I recommend coming here to experience the jungle.

I had a wonderful experience volunteering here! The team was super nice, I made great friends, connected with nature, saw lots of animals, and the food was DELICIOUS!

The project is meaningful and not only about turtles. During my stay, there were no turtles due to beach conditions — I knew this could happen, but some volunteers didn’t and felt disappointed. It would be nice to make this clearer so people come with the right expectations, because the experience is still amazing even without turtles!

Tortugas de Pacuare is such a peaceful & beautiful place. At camp there's around one activity a day, plus cleaning activities (done everyday). It's also secluded so it's almost impossible to explore anything but the tiny town, jungle, wildlife & beach going along Pacuare. I would definitely recommend doing research on turtle's & their hatching cycles before applying & staying around 2-4 weeks depending on the month. Making friends is essential to an amazing stay & getting to know people is so easy because of how kind everyone is! Private transports available but no set/organized yoga classes.
