Hermanos Perdidos Surf

Hello fellow travelers! We're a family who traded the mountains for the waves to run a beachfront surf hostel in the magical, small community of Las Tunas, Ecuador. We're tucked away on the Pacific coast, with a stunning backdrop of tropical mountain rainforest. Our hostel is a chill hub for travelers, you'll be joining our family, which includes our friendly wolfdog Lobito and our four lovely cats: Cash, Sol, Chapito, and Güero.

We are looking for self-motivated, friendly, and reliable volunteers for a minimum commitment of one month. Your energy and positive attitude are key to creating a great guest experience.
What you will be doing:
-Customer Service & Guest Relations: Welcoming guests, handling check-in/out, distributing keys, facilitating daily guest services and activities (yoga, surf lessons, etc.), and being the main source of information (WiFi, local tips, hostel rules, etc.).
-Hostel Maintenance: Ensuring the common areas, cafe/bar, and accommodations (dorms, suites, and tiny homes) are clean and organized. This includes sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, cleaning ovens/fridges, and sometimes sanitizing bathrooms and making beds.

Hours: Maximum 24 hours per week.
Time Off: You will have 3 full days off a week to explore.

What you'll get:
-We offer our volunteers a comfortable and friendly living environment, ensuring you have the energy to surf and explore! You will be provided with a comfortable bed in a shared volunteer or staff dormitory room at the hostel. The room is clean, secure, air conditioned, and has access to shared bathroom facilities and lockers.
-You will have full access to our communal guest kitchen to prepare your own meals. This is a great way to save money and share dishes with other travelers and volunteers!
-The hostel is directly in front of a fantastic surf spot! You'll get free, unlimited use of our surfboards (for all levels), and kayaks.
-High-speed, reliable Wi-Fi is provided throughout all our installations—in both buildings and the common areas.
-Dedicated Workspace: For those who need to focus, we offer a special co-working area designed for digital nomads and remote workers.

Ecuador is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, and we are lucky enough to be surrounded by it every day. Join us through local hikes to hidden beaches, waterfalls and other towns and communities.

As a family-run business, we can't wait to share our little piece of paradise with you. You'll be treated like one of our own, making this instantly feel like your home away from home. Every day, you'll wake up to a peaceful, friendly, fun, and naturally beautiful environment right outside your door.

From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed into a community that embraces the local lifestyle, with an easygoing rhythm that invites you to slow down and fully immerse yourself.
Whether you're catching a wave, exploring local markets, or simply relaxing in a hammock with a good book, there's something for everyone here.
What I appreciated most was how the hostel encouraged a deeper connection with the area—nothing felt rushed, and everything felt authentic.

I don’t even know where to begin. This place the experience and this volunteer position has definitely left a mark on my heart, especially this being my first world packers position. Nidia, jason, and Iva were such a pleasure to volunteer for and the place is really beautiful. The other volunteers and guests that pass through really become your family. We would cook together, surf together and do everything together. This experience was definitely something special that ill never forget

The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed.
The work is not hard and hours are fair.
There are often more volunteers than guests so a family vibe is created but many guests join in too.
We've had pizza nights, beach volleyball, a table tennis competition, movie nights and evening meals with volunteers and guests all joining in.
And of course We've been surfing most days.
There is everything here that you need for a relaxed volunteering experience.

I think it has been the best place to start getting to know this beautiful country. I recommend “Hermanos Perdidos” 100% because it is a comfortable place, The beds and shared rooms are very good, breakfasts as well and the surfboards are free for volunteers. Nidia is an incredible person, who gave me a very flexible schedule that allowed me to visit places close to the town and gave me the confidence to help them creating content for the social media of (Hermanos perdidos). I would love to return in high season at some point.
