We are a team of local Guatemalans who run the hostel. Our kitchen staff does not speak English, so you can practice your spanish. Happy to share our country and culture with you.

Alicia and Elsa are wonderful people and you do have 3 meals a day. However when I got there they were undergoing new management, so things were very disorganized. I was there as a yoga teacher and before my arrival I was told that my work would be 2, hour long classes a day, but when I arrived I was expected to work 5-7 hours each day. I had an issue with the manager, he tried to make a sexual advance and it made me uncomfortable. He did apologize several times, but I chose to leave early after 2 weeks. He was also choosing volunteers based on how the girls looked in their profile.

Unfortunately, my stay was canceled by the host just a few days before my scheduled arrival, despite confirming the arrangement about a month in advance. This caused inconvenience and disrupted my travel plans.

Fue un lindo tiempo allí, se cumplió con horarios, lugar y comidas, y me permitió conocer muy buenas personas, compartir mucho con otros voluntarios y viajeros, hay cambios de manager así que la experiencia puede ser diferente con cada encargado.

Costa Rica
I came to volunteer as a surf instructor and got confronted by the locals multiple times with the argument that only locals are allowed to give lessons. When trying to communicate this with the actual owner he doesn't really seem to care and just wanted me to still work regardless of the threats. The manager did her best to talk with the locals and also got disrespected.
I would strongly discourage anyone to apply to this position.
On the other hand Elsa and Alicia work really hard to make the space clean and cook delicious food for the volunteers, extremely grateful for them!!
