El Momento
En este Momento solo aceptamos solicitudes con un ALTO grado de compromiso, experiencia y dedicación comprobada en los puestos descritos. ONLY applications with a HIGH degree of commitment, experience and compromise will be considered. Types welcome to apply are; dog trainers, scholars and researchers of animal behaviour, vet students and naturalists as well as dog handlers (owners or guides) with high experience. All with a focus on positive and natural relationships and willing to work to "create school" or support modern trends such as the partnership type. If you look for a place away from the noise and the lights of the city where to focus on service to others (dogs) you can enjoy the pride to be a critical part of building a new and modest project. The dogs are big and energetic (mastiffs and Turkish kangal mix), and are wild and powerful. You will work unsupervised often and you are trusted to help safely break a fight (but BEST anticipate them) so you SHOULD have already experience with positive but assertive dog handling.
You MUST stay AT LEAST a month to undergo training (which starts online ahead of your arrival) and learn about the dogs, dog handling and safety procedures. But also takes time to build a bond with the dogs and get them to trust and respect you. Some people stayed long time yet weren't able to be "seen by the dogs", mainly because they themselves did not focus on the dogs, didn't pay attention and weren't able to "see" the dogs around them.
The helpers who enjoyed most and benefited from the training and experience with the dogs stayed several months (and are returning for more stays) but also left their baggage at the door and dedicated themselves to serve and feel the dogs.
The dogs also need time to trust you and follow your lead. So please, ONLY apply if you are coming to work with the dogs and ONLY for a month or more. This is a place for growth and learning and more suitable for ´inner travellers´ than for those looking for action and adventure visiting many new places. It´s quiet and with great dark skies but slow living. The only culture you will experience is the dog culture here.
You'll work 4 days per week and get 3 days to travel, to spend away, study or volunteer somewhere else if you wish.
In case is not clear yet... The dogs are BIG and energetic with guard and hunt insticts and you will work unsupervised much of the time, so you must have already experience with positive but assertive dog handling.
Please do not apply if you are not qualified, we can't take entry level handlers and reviewing applications takes much of our time from daily care and support to the dogs.
Good luck with your travels
At any given time there will be one or several exchange travellers and there is ONLY one toilet. The work with the dogs is morning and evening. Also there are some facilites improving and farm type of tasks. Is a total of around 8 hours each day 5 days a week with 2 days away from the place. Depending on how many people are at the time other working hours and days off can be arranged.
