Dar Bimbimbi

Just beyond Marrakech, the valley of Ouirgane, is a protected and fertile swathe of land brimming with citrus groves, olive trees and aromatic herbal walkways. Abundant with space and shrouded in calm, where ancient Berber footsteps lead you through the majestic Atlas Mountains and to the summit of Morocco. Travelers will have access to this and should they seek a lively energy from time to time, Marrakech is not far. Marrakech, a medieval labyrinth of narrow streets and decadent Souks where the main square bursts open into a riot of colour, music and fragrance. Dancers, fire-eaters and acobats, snake charmers and story tellers live here.

In a world of chaos, tranquility is king.

Hello my name is Said. A workshop leader who was born and lives in the Atlas mountains, in the foothills of the high atlas just an hour from Marrakech. Bought this lovely piece of land thirteen years ago and built retreat for those people that wish to escape the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. The farm house consists of a large garden an off grid bedroom and a basement apartment which are in the process of being built. Additional to this are several rooms that are not fixed or occupied yet. I did most of the work and fixed 2 rooms and now im reaching out to like minded people for support. Anyone that wishes to get away for a while and live out in the nature will find it here. My vision is to revive this beautiful kasbah and turn it in to a all artist retreat for workshops and activities. Let me now if you have a question. Thank you. Said id salah.

I do not recommend this place to anyone at all.
The photos of the application do not match the actual place at all. The three meals included are a lie, and there isn't really a kitchen to prepare anything. The supermarket is 40 minutos by feet but there is not much (no vegetables, no fruit)
The place itself is dirty, messy, and even has broken parts
There are no hygienic conditions, no shower, no toilet, the bed was durty and smelly
I tried to convince myself it was Morocco, but we left a few days later
I really don't recommend this place and I am sure you will find a better place

When I arrived the houses condition was in such a different state than the pictures. My room was nice with pretty views on the roof but so many bugs can get in due to broken doors and windows. There was no place to shower or do laundry, toilet didn’t work, only bread to eat my entire stay and the clean water was only sometimes working leaving me without drinking/cooking water for days.
He was rude when it came to working and had an awful attitude. Couldn’t communicate respectfully with me.
I really tried to enjoy my stay but without basic necessities, I ended up leaving early.

The journey at saïd went in a calm sweet environment surronded by nature and chicken noises, saïd was quite welcoming and kind but hated questions and seemed more of a talker than a listener. The work i had to do was mostly clenaing and organizing , didn’t learn much intersting stuff ,was excpecting to learn more about sustainble methods to build the place i was disappointed, if the volunteers don’t clean no one is ever hired to do so, can be a mess even in ur own room and space but it was okay for me , i loved the flexibily could work at any time of the day i wanted , take breaks whenever.

I needed some days to adapt to the natural environment and the state of the house that suffered from a strong earthquake on 2023.
I came to assist in social media but finally agreed that to be 1h in the evening, and the remaining 3h helping in preparing the foundations for reinforcement by digging. My presence was more morale support than actually being productive myself.
Said has a good heart and is professional setting the working/free times, but patience in communication was key to keep a peaceful environment.
I missed more volunteers for socializing, so might be ideal for introverts.

I think every travelers experience will differ of course. It is a unique place to be in and it's good to note that you are living with a local who knows his own culture. Communication is always very important and knowing how to be respectful as a guest as well as a host is a fundamental skill. Said is very kind and has a lot of things to have done on his property, most of which will probably not be delegated to you unless you have those skills yourself. Understanding the Moroccan way of life may be essential before coming here but you learn it regardless. Enjoy your stay guys!
